Exivious is a fusion/metal band, featuring members of American progressive metal band Cynic and Dutch band Textures. They have released one self-titled album independently. Exivious incorporate metal riffs with a jazz fusion approach, featuring complex rhythms and free improvisation.

I finally got around to doing a little video of one of the songs of our debut album. Besides the first 2 solos I also play on the studio version of this song, I threw in an additional solo and I replaced Michel's solo at the end. I thought this might make it a little more interesting to watch. The footage is kind of low quality and not perfect in any way, but I do dig the performance so I thought I'd share it anyways! www.jasper-barendregt.com Recording Diary - 08 MAR / 2012: After having had the pleasure of sharing the stage with these guys I decided on taking the opportunity to revise Stef's drum parts and record my own drumming to these tracks. 'Alternative drum versions' so to speak... This is my take on the track 'Waves Of Thought'. This is the first time I've also recorded a camera aimed at my feet (although those shots weren't recorded at the same time, so I had to do a fair bit of video editing). I'm happy with the result of this recording and I think Joris Bonis did a great job on mixing and mastering the track with me! This is the last recording I did for Exivious. I'm not planning on recording more work because that would simply not feel right. Also, as you might know, the drumsticks have been passed on to a great drummer called 'Yuma van Eekelen'. You can enjoy his work with the band, being the fact that they're touring Europe at the moment! Obviously I wish them all the very best and have really enjoyed the time I've spent playing with them. I'm really looking forward to how Exivious will evolve in the future. Also, on the contrary of what I was planning before; I'm not going to upload an updated version of 'Ripple Of A Tear'. I'll think about what I'm going to do with that upload, but in the meantime enjoy it while it's still online! It's a non-edited single take recorded without a click-track (the headphones are solely used for ear protection). I've uploaded this because I wanted to give an as honest as possible representation of my drumming. Even though there are some parts I'm not really happy about, I think this is a very decent and honest recording that gives you an idea on how I would play these Exivious tracks. I'm planning on uploading professional recorded versions of 'Ripple Of A Tear' and 'Waves Of Thought' in the upcoming weeks. Contradicting this video, these will be completely produced drum tracks, hopefully recorded with more camera angles and without any mistakes... ;-) This video will probably be deleted when the new version is uploaded, so enjoy it while it's online! There aren't any tabs; I learned this song by ear and from watching this dude cover it first ( gotta give him props, watching his cover helped a TON: www.youtube.com though I changed a tad bit from how he played it. I know it's not close too 100%, some parts i just couldn't grasp fully, but this is an awesome song so I had to attempt it haha.
