Official trailer to the game Operation Flashpoint. ***Story*** The year is 1985, and Mikhail Gorbachev has come to power in the USSR. While his Glasnost and Perestroika reforms are welcomed by western governments, there are communist hardliners in his own government that are unsympathetic to his cause. One of these men, a fanatic hardline general called Aleksei Guba, is determined to bring down Gorbachev and make himself the next leader of Russia. This video is the second in a series that focuses on Operation Flashpoint: Red River's immersive narrative, which unfolds over distinct three acts. Set in 2013 in the new location of Tajikistan, the UMSC are sent in to defend American interests threatened by insurgency in the destabilised country. The video follows the Marines' mission to secure a river dam, a vital part of Tajikistan's vulnerable infrastructure. As narrator Staff Sergeant Knox informs us, their insurgent enemy is 'entrenched and determined' but 'such an opportunity to win local hearts and minds is always worth a measured risk.' Marines are shown facing down the insurgents, who fight a guerrilla war from the shadows and use their local knowledge to stage ambushes. Combining the different specialities contained within the four-man Fireteam, Marines sweep through compounds and towns, engaging enemies at close quarters and long range. Reflecting their role in a broader conflict as part of a large expeditionary force, they are shown in action alongside artillery, armour, air-support and additional infantry fireteams. Well-trained, equipped and able to call upon mortar strikes and close air support, 'the orders passed down to America's fighting force are executed with precision'. The 'Co-op Search and Rescue' video showcases gameplay footage from the CSAR Fireteam Engagement mode, as Fireteam Bravo inserts behind enemy lines to rescue downed pilots in enemy territory. Operation Flashpoint: Red River has been developed around co-operative play, whether in the substantial campaign mode or in standalone Fireteam Engagements. Up to four players stand together in drop-in drop-out online co-op, picking one of the fireteam specialists -- Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman, Scout and Grenadier -- to combine as a fearsome fighting force. Each player can build XP to unlock weapons, skills and modifications for their class, customising their loadouts to suit their preferred style of play. The 'Co-op Search and Rescue' video focuses on one of four standalone Fireteam Engagement modes, where up to four players come together to complete objectives on their own initiative online. In 'CSAR' (Combat Search and Rescue) players must extract allied forces stranded behind enemy lines. 'Combat Sweep' missions require gamers to eliminate all hostiles in an area of operations and complete additional objectives including destroying weapons caches.
