Primitive Fire: Flint and Steel (REMAKE)
This is a primitive way to start a fire with a piece of flint (in this case it is english flint) and a steel striker (which is just a piece of carbon steel) when you strike a piece of carbon steel against a sharpened edge of a piece of flint the flint scrapes off tiny bits of steel (because the flint is harder than the steel) and the friction is what gets those bits of steel red hot, which is what the sparks are...In this video I catch a spark on a piece of char cloth and place it into a "birds nest" which I made out of jute twine I seperated...If you do not know what char cloth is or jute twine, you can find out easily with a quick google search...By blowing on the bundle the char cloth gets red hot and in turn heats the jute twine...It get so hot that in bursts into flames, you can use this to start a camp fire or if you are in a survival situation...In the case of a survival situation most people will not have a flitn and steel on them, but there are many rocks you can find all around the wolrd that will create a spark if you hit it with a piece of steel...as for the steel, I suggest you at least carry a carbon steel knife with you if you venture into the wild, that way you can use that as your striker...I hope you enjoy the video...

Our Man Flint (1966), directed by Daniel Mann, granite-faced James Coburn stars as superspy Derek Flint. Cobb), but due to a preëmptive assassination attempt by Galaxy's section head Gila while Flint is dining with his four live-in 'playmates'. Supported by Jerry Goldmsith's way groovy musical score, Flint does it all while keeping his tux spotless, his demeanor cool, and his women satisfied. A sequel, 'In Like Flint', followed two years later, and in 1976, the character was revived for a TV movie, Our Man Flint: Dead on Target, with Ray Danton taking over the role of Derek Flint.

Hello friends. Have I ever told you guys what my favorite show was? Well besides Lost, my 2nd fave show is Survivor. I'm obsessed with it, I love everything about it. I just finished watching every season thus far to the recent episodes of 20. I decided I'm gonna go ahead and try out for the show. I went and bought some flint and tried to start a fire for the 1st time. This is the video of me doing so. You'll probably see more vids of me talking about the show I'll be going camping more this summer and learning how to build shelter and what not. I also need to brush up on my swimming skills because growing up a city kid I never really got the chance to spend that much time in the water. I'm sure I can swim from one point to another but put me in the water for too long and I'll surely sink like a rock. *sad blue panda*... Anyways I hope you guys are having a good week. I'll be posting more videos soon. Another vlog and some other stuff I have in mind. I'm working on the 3rd and FINAL installment to my lsd response videos. I think I'll just do Q and A vids and not have it pertaining to a certain subject but everything. Sorry if this video was rather long but I thought editing it would just mess up the time frame of how long it actually took me to start the fire. So what do you guys think? Did I do okay? This is me looking for flint in a plowed field. However the rocks should look the same in a dry wash, Creek bed, etc. Many people tell you what you can DO with flint, But few show how to find it. The piece I found was a fairly good sized piece, at least a couple of pounds.
