Detectives: Foyle

Well, not a Private Eye, but a Police Officer: Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle, played by Michael Kitchen, in ITV's series Foyle's War. He's solving crimes of all sorts in Hastings during the Second World War, assisted by one-legged Detective Sergeant Paul Milner (Anthony Howell) and his driver Samantha Stewart (Honeysuckle Weeks). Foyle's a very quiet, very modest character, a widower and father of a RAF pilot. I love the details Kitchen put into his part, but when doing this video found it hard to show such a rather quiet and modest character instead of an outgoing, vain fellow like Poirot or an eccentric like Holmes ... The series was created by Anthony Horowitz, who once was one of the writers of Robin of Sherwood.
