Faun Fables "With Words and Cake"

"With Words and Cake" is a little film about what to do when you're home alone on your birthday night. Blending elements from the classic Bolex, stop-motion animation, digital compositing, and percussion derived from kitchen utensils, Bay Area heroes Faun Fables sing and dance their way through the baking of a cake and then some.

Faun Fables - Muse

Spokane, WA-raised artist, dancer, and songwriter Dawn "The Faun" McCarthy formed Faun Fables in 1997. After a self-released debut, 1999's Early Song, her powerful voice, penchant for performance art, and British Folk-infused rock with lyrics steeped in pagan imagery attracted the attention of Nils Frykdahl (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). Frykdahl became a frequent collaborator, appearing on 2001's Mother Twilight. The following year, McCarthy premiered her musical The Transit Rider, with the accompanying soundtrack slated for later release. The duo issued Family Album that same year on Drag City Records, followed by the conceptual soundtrack album The Transit Rider, which finally saw release in 2006, four years after the musical. In 2008 the duo issued the culinary-themed EP A Table Forgotten, the first installment in McCarthy's exploration of women's roles in the home. Just in time for the transition to winter in 2010, Faun Fables released a second ambitious concept album (the first being The Transit Rider), this time reflecting weather and the seasons, entitled Light of a Vaster Dark. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi. www.faunfables.net

Carousel with Madonnas (Instrumental)

This song (Karuzela z madonnami) was written by the composer, Zygmunt Konieczny with lyrics by Miron Bialoszewski. It was made famous by Ewa Demarczy, and then covered in English by the band, Faun Fables. I decided to do an instrumental cover mostly based off the Faun Fables version. Hope you like it. Faun Fables - Who Killed Cock Robin (11-20-09 in San Francisco)

See this amazing rendition of the old childhood nursery rhyme "Who Killed Cock Robin" - Done By Faun Fables, or more technically Dawn McCarthy and Nils Frykdahl. Amazing musicians, amazing voices. Enjoy! And support the artist by seeing them live and buying a CD or two! FAUN FABLES is Dawn McCarthy's vivid imagination come to life in song and theater, made to explore human pathos amid an animate earth with musical & physical storytelling forms. It has been attracting a devoted and eclectic following since 1997 with numerous performances throughout North America, Europe, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland and four record releases distributed worldwide on Drag City Records: EARLY SONG, MOTHER TWILIGHT, FAMILY ALBUM and THE TRANSIT RIDER. Dawn McCarthy is a writer, singer and theater artist whose work is a sea of gorgeous elemental nitty gritty; haunting melodies, breath, stomping, and natural theatricality led by the voice, rooted in the physical body. It is a crossroads where ancient ballad, art song, physical theater and rock music meet. Her lyrics speak to people of all ages about things like rugged housekeeping, street kids, growing old, sleepwalking and exiled travelers returning home. * * * * * * * She was raised in Spokane, WA by two piano players from Chicago and grew up making sounds and dances with a big family of Italian and Irish descent. Her primary education and inspiration came from all kinds of unorthodox and self-taught means. At home her parents ...
