JUDY GARLAND "GET HAPPY" (SUMMER STOCK, 1950)

JUDY GARLAND "GET HAPPY" Though it's called Summer Stock, this marvelous "let's put on a show" musical - the final one that showcased the peerless pair of Judy Garland and Gene Kelly - is a delight for all seasons. The story is simple: a homespun farm family allows a Broadway production company to rehearse its new show on their property - if the performers "pay" their way by pitching in with all the farm chores! But the pleasures are abundant: a show-stopping, all-star "Battle of the Dances" that starts out as a square dance and blossoms into a cavalcade of high-stepping dance favorites; Kelly's marvelous song and later dance to "You, Wonderful You;" four of the most popular comedic screen actors ever: Phil Silvers, Eddie Bracken, Hans Conried and Marjorie Main; and Garland's incomparable "Get Happy," a smashing sequence that's one of her peak movie moments.

Travis Garland - "Believe" (Available on iTunes NOW!)

Buy the song in iTunes now! bit.ly This is special! From its very first seconds, Travis Garland's debut single, Believe, establishes itself as something truly special and different from everything else on the radio. It's an instant hit! Check out the brilliant tune (below) by the Perezcious Music artist. Some of you may know the Texas-raised singer as a member from the now defunct boy band NLT, which saw one of it's other members - Kevin McHale - go on to star on Fox's hit show Glee. A true talent and an authentic artist, Travis Garland not only sings and dances, but he also wrote Believe and even produced his own vocals on it! Plus, he plays piano too! Hitmaker Danja, the man behind some of Justin Timberlake, Madonna and Britney Spears' biggest hits, produced the song, available on iTunes now. Travis Garland makes us #Believe in pop music again! He's the missing link in the game! He can appeal to the young girls, like Justin Bieber, but with his super sexiness and street swagger he'll also draw in a broader fanbase of older females and dudes - gay and straight - as well. Believe is a song that inspires and unites! It's a song we can hear being played on radio stations all across the world! From the tribal drum sounds to the soaring melodies, this is a song everyone can FEEL. We believe in Travis Garland so much that we are working with him! Red Garland - Soul Junction

A marvelous piano piece by Red Garland. Tooken from Jazz Junction, by the Red Garland Trio, with John Coltrane & Donald Byrd, 15 Nov 1957. I had to cut off the track because of the length, but Coltrane and Byrd are also on it. You can still hear a little bit of Trane's playing in the track. But to me, it's about Red Garland, creating a very strong and emotional atmosphere for a ballad. The Red Garland Trio is: Red Garland (p) Art Taylor (dr) George Joyner (b)

Judy Garland Barbra Streisand Duet - Get Happy / Happy Days Are Here Again

Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand sing "Get Happy" and "Happy Days Are Here Again" in a counterpoint duet. This performance is from episode 9 of the Judy Garland Show, broadcast on October 6, 1963. It is available in a number of DVD "Judy Garland Show" collections which seem to go in and out of print. US viewers can probably buy or rent one of these DVDs online; worldwide viewers are probably out of luck. Barbra was 21 years old at the time and received an Emmy nomination for her guest appearance. On October 12, 2010, the hit television series GLEE featured this duet, with Barbra's role performed by Lea Michele and Judy's role performed by Chris Colfer. Lea was 24 at the time while Chris was 20 years old. Both Lea and Chris are very talented young singers and gave an amazing performance of this song. Kudos to GLEE for including this song on the show. I still wish GLEE didn't feel the need to disguise the warmth of their talented cast members' voices with AutoTune. They hire wonderful singers, then electronically distort their vocal skills. However, GLEE is introducing a new generation of viewers to wonderful songs like this, so I can't really complain. Garland's Top 10 Resident Evil Quotes & Conversations

Resident Evil is one of the best games ever, and one of the reasons why that is the case is the horrible voice acting that easily falls under the category "so bad it's funny". So, I present to you my top 10 quotes or conversations in this game. This time, however, the number 1 spot is very cliché. Some of the scenes were brutally stolen from CaRC1n0g3n and SairentoZ7's videos, as I didn't bother playing through the whole game twice just to record them. That is also why the quality varies a little. Naturally, I will give you both 25% of the profit.

Judy Garland "Stompin' at the Savoy" 1936

This is Judy, two days after her 14th birthday. Recorded Friday, June 12, 1936, this is her earliest Decca recording available. Written by Edgar Sampson, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, and Andy Razaf, Judy is backed by Bob Crosby and his Orchestra. This record was intended to promote Judy's popularity as MGM tried to discover film vehicles for her. This record features "Swing Mister Charlie" as its b-side, and if requested, I'll post that. What a voice! There has never been a singer since! Judy did not record for Decca until over a year later. This was her last Decca recording session done in New York until 1945.

Liza Minnelli & Judy Garland - Hello Dolly (live)

The novelty of Judy Garland: Live at the London Palladium is the spectacle of the great entertainer sharing the stage with her up-and-coming daughter. In November 1964 Liza Minnelli was not yet 20 and not yet a Broadway success. She looks it: the coltish, appealingly gawky girl is still pretty raw (at one point after a costume change she yanks off her earrings just before launching into a song), and Garland seems alternately proud of and bemused by her. The video is pretty raw, too, a rough black-and-white affair that can best be described as serviceable in quality. However, fans of this brand of showbiz razzmatazz will be satisfied with the duets between the women (especially trading verses on a medley of "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Get Happy"). Judy opens the show with the reliable chest sweller "Once in a Lifetime" (no relation to the Talking Heads tune) and delivers a tutorial in song dynamics with "The Man That Got Away." She appears rather shrunken and tired but still comes on like a trouper, fending off the audience's constant heckling for "Over the Rainbow" (as though she might forget it?) before finally handing the song back to them as a touching sing-along. This was Garland's last appearance at the Palladium. It's also a passing of the torch to Liza, who would later become the kind of polished dynamo embodied by her mother, more than capable of holding down her own one-woman shows.
