www.netbooknews.com Gigabyte is entering the tablet space with a 10 inch Windows Home Premium Tablet called the S1080. Under the hood of this multitouch capacitive 1024 x 600 resolution display are an Atom N550 dual core CPU, a 320 GB hard drive, SD card slot, a speedy USB 3.0 and a VGA out port. You don't see many tablets with VGA as most are opting for HDMI, but I guess if you're looking to hook this up to an external monitor in the business world VGA is still pretty common. This tablet is being pushed forward as a business tablet, something along the lines of the HP Slate, which we know only sold around 6000 units. Looks at the hardware design we can see that the screen already sports Android navigation buttons. This is a little confusing since the only timelines Gigabyte can hope to follow at this point for Android would be Honeycomb and Android 3.0 is not meant to need these navigation buttons. Similarly for navigating around Windows they have included a mouse pointer as well as a left and right mouse buttons. I hope that they are planning on dropping the profile of the device in the next build as it is a little thick for my liking. We have no word on pricing but availability for the tablet should be in March just in time for honeycomb.

This is me flashing my BIOS with a Gigabyte P55-UD4P motherboard using the Q-flash utility which comes on Gigabyte motherboards. I looked for a video on Q-flash I could use for a reference and could not find one so, I made one. I am not an expert. Use this information at your own risk. Until that launch, NVIDIA chips had the performance crown for the single GPU video card market in terms of performance. One could argue about the necessity of DirectX 11 hardware in 2009 as only one game, Dirt 2 is scheduled to be released that supports it this year in December, but the fact that ATI has launched the ultimate performer WITH DirectX 11 support means that the choice for someone wanting the highest performing video card on the market today really isnt much of a choice at all. XFX started selling ATI cards late last year with the launch of their HD 4890 series. As you might know, XFX has been a long-time seller of NVIDIA based video cards but the market and the economy forced XFX to diversify. Today they sell both NVIDIA and ATI based video cards. ATI launched their HD 5870 at the $379 price point, but that leaves a wide market for video cards under $300. The HD 5850 which is based on the same chip as the HD 5870 but with less SPs and memory bandwidth is less but the performance should be excellent.

Gigabyte has been making these for a few generations now, their latest one being the most interesting. The 11.6 T1125 comes in 3 varieties the lowest version spec wise (T1125M) is aimed at the emerging markets, which ones we are still waiting to find out. We got some hands on time with the T1125N which comes in Core i3 & i5 sporting NVIDIA GeForce 310M DDRIII 512MB and supports NVIDIA Optimus Technology. Connectivity wise we are looking at 1 USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, esata, audio jacks, vga, 4 in 1 card reader & a port for the docking station which will house the DVD burner. Getting online you've got a few options Bluetooth 2.1 if you want to tether, 802.11 b Wireless and a 3.5G module is optional but the antenna is already built in. The booktop docking station is what set Gigabyte notebooks apart, they have been playing around with various configurations as the M1305 & M1405 have a different style of docking station. The important question that we should be asking right now is how much is this going to cost and when is it going to be available. Unfortunately there is no word but they are trying to get it for sale for Christmas but it sounds like we shouldn't hold our breath and CES is much more likely.
