David Gilmour Talks About Wish You Were Here

The next phase of the WHY PINK FLOYD? campaign focuses on WISH YOU WERE HERE. In this video, David Gilmour talks about the release with Paul Rappaport, who visited David's houseboat/recording studio, Astoria, for the conversation. Gilmour even takes a moment to play a little of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." Wish You Were Here 'Immersion' 5-disc and 'Experience' 2-disc editions both will include bonus material from the band's 1974 Wembley dates, including a 20-minute tour de force live rendition of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," as well as a unique recording of "Wish You Were Here" featuring the legendary jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli. The long-awaited 5.1 version of Wish You Were Here, mixed by James Guthrie, will also be released in parallel via independent label Acoustic Sounds.

High Hopes - Remember That Night - David Gilmour - HD

"High Hopes" from the album "The Division Bell" written in 1994 by David Gilmour and Polly Samson. "High Hopes" was really the last one, it was written after all the other (songs) were sort of, in some form or another. I think I wrote it in July or something. It was very, very quick. It's one of those ones that works, quickly, but beautifully, almost immediately and, I came up with a tiny bit of music, just had it on a cassette, just a few bars of piano. And then I went off to get away to a small house somewhere with my girlfriend, Polly, and try and make some progress on the lyric writing. And she gave me a phrase about something about before time wears you down. And I took it from there, and...got stuck into a whole sort of thing about, I suppose, my, it's autobiographical really, I suppose I'd have to say on that one, it's about my life, Cambridge life, and my childhood, I suppose. Yeah, we came up with it very, very quickly, we wrote the words to it in, most of the words to it in a day. And then I went back to the studio, with no one else there, the minute I got back, and put a demo down of it. Did everything myself on it, and it was virtually complete in a day. Pink Floyd Lene2free@yahoo.com Click To View the Fullsize Image/s New footage has emerged of The Orb working with former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. The Orb emerged at a critical time for dance music. The white heat of Acid House was dissipating, and amid the furious tempos of 'Ardkore some people just wanted to tune in, turn on and chill out. Looking to ambient music for inspiration, The Orb were commonly linked to Pink Floyd. The pair share a love of down tempo music, with the prog giant's languid soundscapes serving as an inspiration. Now after twenty years of worship The Orb have finally been able to work with a member of Pink Floyd. News broke earlier this year that the dance legends had used material from David Gilmour extensively on their new project. The pair jammed last year, resulting in reels of recorded music. Deciding to embark on a new album, The Orb used David Gilmour's contributions as a starting point before spiralling into ...

Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour - Live in Gdańsk - HD

Happy Birthday David Gilmour! Born March 6 1946. Comfortably Numb was written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters in 1979 for the album "The Wall". David originally wrote the music for the song to be on his solo album "David Gilmour" but Roger wanted to use it in The Wall. The title during the writing of the lyrics was "The Doctor" and changed to Comfortably Numb before the release. The song surrounds two characters the Doctor and the patient who is played by The Wall's main character Pink. Comfortably Numb is considered to be one of Pink Floyd's quintessential songs, the guitar solo at the end of the song is considered as one of the greatest guitar solos of all time, originally played on David's Black Strat.
