I want to share with you the horror of the ture events that took place here in Oradour. I visited Oradour sur Glane on August 07. The present day photos are those of the ones I took during my visit. On the 10th of June 1944 642 men women and children were murdered brutally by the Nazi regime. Woman and Children were drvien into the church where they were shot at and burned. The Men were herded into the barns and executed also. Only a few survivors can tell of the true extent of the horror.

When they had gone, the community which had lived for a thousand years. . . was dead. This is Oradour-sur-Glane, in France. The day the soldiers came, the people were gathered together. The men were taken to garages and barns, the women and children were led down this road . . . and they were driven. . . into this church. Here, they heard the firing as their men were shot. Then. . . they were killed too. A few weeks later, many of those who had done the killing were themselves dead, in battle. They never rebuilt Oradour. Its ruins are a memorial. Its martyrdom stands for thousands upon thousands of other martyrdoms in Poland, in Russia, in Burma, in China, in a World at War... And at the end of episode 26, while another aerial shot of the village ruins plus photos of various massacre victims was being shown to the accompaniment of dramatic music, Olivier said: At the village of Oradour-sur-Glane, the day the soldiers came, they killed more than six hundred men, women and children. Oradour sur Glane - WWII historic site. On Saturday the 10th of June 1944, soldiers of the Der Führer Regiment of the 2nd Waffen-SS Panzer Division killed 642 men, women and children of the village of Oradour-sur-Glane in France. The town remains preserved as a monument to those lives lost.
A small amount of water is placed in this round bottom flask. The opening in plugged with a rubber stopper with glass tubing penetrating the middle. The water is heated to a vigorous boil, then the only opening to the container is sealed by inverting the flask so that the end of the glass tubing is placed in the water located in the tub. As the water is heated, temperature goes up, so pressure goes up. In turn, moles of gas particles begin to rapidly go down to relieve this pressure by leaving out of the glass tubing. Once the heat is removed, and the volume is sealed, the temperature begins to go down causing the pressure to go down. Additionally, the number of moles in the container have been greatly reduced. This causes the volume to shrink dramatically as the inside of the container attemts to increase it's pressure until it is equal the the atmospheric pressure outside. Super cool, and amazing how small the volume becomes.

French village massacred on the 10th of June 1944 in an unprovoked attack by the Nazi's resulting in the brutal murder of 624 Men, Women and Children.The village was then looted and set alight. A handful of villagers escaped and the village has been left in a ruined state as a memorial to those who died and to ensure they are never forgotten.A new village of the same name has been constructed beside the ruins and although life carries on normally in the new village the feeling of eerieness in the old village is still present but not unique to me as I have come across that feeling once before at Auschwitz.

The old town of Oradour-sur-Glane in France, as it was left by the Waffen SS in 1944 after they massacred almost the entire population. I've visited this town in 2000 and my aunt and uncle visited in 2001 and recorded these images, which I turned into this video. I just stumbled upon the video on my hard drive after cleaning it up and felt I had to share it with the world, even though similar videos of Oradour already exist on YouTube. Still I think it's necessary to show this as much as possible, so we won't forget. But it's even better if you pay a visit to the town if you're around. It's near Limoges, you won't regret it. Just fill a glass bottle and find total volume. Divide by 3, and fill with that much water. Mark that spot as it will be 1/3, This will be the for the oxygen since it combines in a 1:2 ratio with hydrogen. The other 2/3 are of course for the hydrogen. Situé à une vingtaine de kilomètres au nord ouest de Limoges, le lieu est saisissant. Le village entier a été conservé, les rails du tramway sont encore en place. De nombreuses carcasses de voitures résistent encore à la rouille, tout comme quelques objets domestiques restés dans les maisons. Oradour , village fantôme tombé dans l'abîme. Le rire des enfants ne se fera plus entendre, les livres d'école ont tourné leur dernier chapitre. Le cordonnier a rangé ses souliers, Le boucher a raccroché son tablier. Nous n'entendrons plus le marteau du forgeron, plus de papotage sur les perrons. A la terrasse du café les chaises sont vides, elles ont pris une couleur âpre de brulé. Puis les mitrailleuses furent installes sur le lieu de rassemblement ou les les hommes et femmes de villages voisins ainsi que les ecoliers en rang et leurs instituteurs furent aussi achemines. Plus tard, les soldats separerent les hommes des femmes et enfants. Les hommes furent ensuite menes vers divers lieux d'execution. Les femmes et enfants furent conduits dans l'eglise ou ils furent massacres a l'interieur. Il n'y eu qu'une seule rescapee de ce carnage, et 6 hommes. Tous perirent dans la souffrance atroce du feu.
