Last episode, the crew journeyed into the Saharan dunes for a romantic evening with camels and two days lathered in sunscreen. A three day break altogether from skating makes them eager to get back on the road, starting from Ourzazate, traveling east through Valee Du Dades, coincidentally for the Festival of the Roses in El Kelaa M'gouna. Passing off the festival and opting to skate the Gorge du Dades, one of the most radical designs in roadwork, the Long Treks team skates into the massive Gorge. Unfortunately, Adam is the last of the three to be struck with a powerful and tormenting stomach flu. We set up a 15m and a 85 meters on the first session in November. For the second session in December, we set up a 25m and the 15 and 85 meters again. I must tell you the second trip was much harder : we had snow and temperatures down to -12° during the night. The 85 meters was not crossed : it is a "Machine de Satan" as Damien (slack.fr) would say. It is really hard and you can feel the Verdon river 450 meters underneath your feets. Next step is to improve, become good slackliners, and come back with a better level. Enjoy. PS : two original things appear in this video : - a aluminium pulley used to cross easily the slack. If ever you are interested to get the drawing, contact me. - a closed plan when cutting the slack : it shows that with a tension of about 1 ton, the slack breaks after cutting more than a half. De Gorges du Verdon of de Grand Canyon du Verdon is een kloof op de grens van de departementen Var en Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in het zuiden van Frankrijk. Het is de grootste kloof in Europa, uitgesleten door de rivier de Verdon over een lengte van 25 km. Zij ligt in het nationaal regionaal natuurpark Verdon uit 1997, 180.000 hectare groot. Gorges du VerdonDit prachtige natuurverschijnsel trekt honderdduizenden mensen naar Frankrijk. Het ligt tussen Castellane en Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, bekend om het faience. Dit is speciaal aardewerk. Het keramiek van Moustiers wordt gekenmerkt door zijn glazuurdecoratie. Het eindigt in het stuwmeer van Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon (Lac de Sainte-Croix). Met de aanleg van dit meer werd in 1973 begonnen, in 1975 werd het gevuld. Het meer is 14 km lang en 2 km breed. Het dorp Salles-sur-Verdon verdween door de aanleg van dit meer en werd op de oostelijke oever weer opgebouwd. Het meer van Sainte-Croix is de poort naar de Gorges du Verdon, de op een na grootste kloof ter wereld. Het meer is dan ook gericht op toeristen. Vooral vlakbij de toegang tot de Gorges worden veel kano's, kajakken, waterfietsen en motorbootjes verhuurd aan mensen die de kloof willen bezoeken. De rotswanden zijn soms wel 700 m hoog en zeer imposant. Er zijn diverse roofvogels uitgezet, met name de vale gier. Ze vliegen boven de gorges en zijn vanaf diverse uitzichtpunten goed zichtbaar.
