Directed by Tomas Whitmore, the video features UN-Is Green Label Sound single, Land of the Kings. Set up as a portrait of tribal influences, the video for Land of the Kings took place in Malibu Creek State Park, which created an untouched and organic setting by using a mix of rolling hills, running water and pristine beaches. I knew this video was gonna be bigger than just a video when I arrived on set in time. I've looked at the majority of videos that came out this year and there is not one video that even looks nor sounds like "Land Of The Kings, says YO, one half of UNI. Thurzday went on to explain, "This is our fourth video with our brother Tomas. We built the concept to stand in the clouds and he launched it into space. To continue with the inauguration of Green Label Sound's debut release, "Delivery Man" from The Cool Kids comes the official video for the single. For their second video to date, Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids enlisted up and coming genius, Ray Tintori to direct. Tintori's most recent music video work includes singles from MGMT. Determined to seek out an old, dilapidated rotating drum that exists in a flood-ruined amusement park fun house in Easton, PA, Ray and The Cool Kids took a little road trip out there for the two-day shoot. "Big Bills" - By Flosstradamus featuring Caroline Polachek
The singles label Green Label Sound has started 2009 with the official video for "Big Bills" the collaboration between Chicago-based DJ/production duo Flosstradamus and Caroline Polachek of Brooklyn's indie-synth band Chairlift. Setting the stage in a freezing warehouse located in Brooklyn, New York, Flosstradamus and Caroline are surrounded by colorful lighting and hanging mirrors catching their reflections. The inspiration came from contemporary Danish artist, Olafur Eliasson. Director Keven McAlester explains, "For the video, I wanted to do something very simple, very mathematical--complement the song without getting in the way. We tried a bunch of more complicated stuff with mirrors, but we kept coming back to the simple things that worked. Color and geometry. My kindergarten teacher would be proud." The collaboration marks several "firsts" for all players: the first collaboration on Green Label Sound; the first official original release from Flosstradamus; and the first "dance" track featuring Caroline Polachek. Flosstradamus (Curt Cameruci and Josh Young), known for their ability to seamlessly blend old school beats, Euro big-room tunes, funky house, and minimal techno, have laid down a fun and compelling beat which complements the subtle indie pop vocals of Chairlift's Caroline Polachek perfectly. The singles label Green Label Sound is pleased to debut the new video for its second release Daylight by Brooklyns destructive dance duo, Matt and Kim. New York director Micah Perta explains, The concept for the video was to have Matt and Kim in cramped spaces at the beginning of the song as a counterpoint to the songs lyrics about daylight. Then we have a surprise ending where they shift into a colorful, open world that sets them into flight (even though theyre really on the ground)." Matt describes the inspiration behind the videos concept, "Even though it seems kind of ridiculous, our shows can be a lot like this video. Sure, we're not stuffed in a bathtub or a refrigerator at our shows, but we have played in some crazy, uncomfortable, cramped places, such as kitchens, living rooms, and even the bottom of a cliff. These days we're on stages, but on occasion we've ended up with fifty to a hundred people up there with us. Suddenly were right back in Jimmy's mom's basement doing whatever we can do to not let my keyboards fall over, my microphone unplug, or let Kims cymbals cut off any fingers." Kim talks about her unexpected experiences on set, "I don't know if this was planned by Matt, but a few of the scenes for the video were my worst nightmares!
