Greensleeves covered by Tuatha De Danann, an italian Celtic Folk band. WARNING: this is a cover recorded by an italian folk group called Tuatha de Danan and, so, I'm not talking about the brazilian band. I've already erased thousand of posts that persisted in saying that it was the brazilian band's cover. I'm sorry but it is not. More comments concerning this matter will be immediately cancelled. Current line-up: Laura Gallo - Vocals, Percussion Enrico Euron - Celtic Harp, Medieval Harp Francesco Colucci - Violin, Viola Filippo Mongiardino - Ancient Straight Flutes, Ancient Transvers Flutes Giancarlo Bonino - Bodhran, Percussion Lyrics: Alas my love you do me wrong To cast me off discourteously; And I have loved you oh so long Delighting in your company. Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my lady Greensleeves. I have been ready at your hand To grant whatever thou would'st crave; I have waged both life and land Your love and goodwill for to have. Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my lady Greensleeves. Gregorian - Greensleeves

Letra: Alas, my love, you do me wrong, To cast me off discourteously. For I have loved you for so long, Delighting in your company. Chorus: Greensleeves was all my joy Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves was my heart of gold, And who but my lady greensleeves. Your vows you've broken, like my heart, Oh, why did you so enrapture me? Now I remain in a world apart But my heart remains in captivity. chorus I have been ready at your hand, To grant whatever you would crave, I have both wagered life and land, Your love and good-will for to have. chorus If you intend thus to disdain, It does the more enrapture me, And even so, I still remain A lover in captivity. chorus My men were clothed all in green, And they did ever wait on thee; All this was gallant to be seen, And yet thou wouldst not love me. chorus Thou couldst desire no earthly thing, but still thou hadst it readily. Thy music still to play and sing; And yet thou wouldst not love me. chorus Well, I will pray to God on high, that thou my constancy mayst see, And that yet once before I die, Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me. chorus Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu, To God I pray to prosper thee, For I am still thy lover true, Come once again and love me. chorus

Greensleeves. I have mixed pictures and movies together to make a the song even more relaxing and maybe better. I have found the pictures/videos all around the internet. Some pictures are filled with the brightest light. Others dark as a black hole. I have done that to make a big contrast between light and dark and to make a mind work along with this perfect music. Greensleeves

INFORMATION: web.me.com Greensleeves Paula Bär-Giese soprano Hans Meijer lute Anonymous setting from the Ballet Lute book, which is probably the earliest known setting of the tune, and Francis Cutting's (1571 - 1596) set of variations upon it. Handsome, gifted and recently married to Catherine of Aragon, King Henry VIII was the envy of Europe when he penned 35 royal compositions in the early years of his long and turbulent reign. (Thirty-five Compositions Ref: E1801 The complete secular works of King Henry VIII consisting of partsongs and instrumental consorts. Publisher Stainer & Bell) Truly a Renaissance prince, he was also a gifted composer who excelled in portraying the pleasures of courtly life through words and music. His daughter, Elizabeth, inherited his gifts, and was a keen dancer and an excellent performer on the virginals. "Greensleeves" is a traditional English folk song and tune, basically a ground of the form called a romanesca. A widely-believed (but completely unproven) legend is that it was composed by King Henry VIII of England (1491-1547) for his lover and future queen consort Anne Boleyn. Anne, the youngest daughter of Thomas Boleyn, 1st Earl of Wiltshire, rejected Henry's attempts to seduce her. This rejection is apparently referred to in the song, when the writer's love "cast me off discourteously." It is not known if the legend is true, but the song is still commonly associated with Boleyn in the public mind. GREENSLEEVES Alas, my love, you do me ...

Anonymous - "Greensleeves" to a Ground in G

ANONYMOUS (17TH CENTURY) "Greensleeves" to a ground for a treble instrument and basso continuo in G major Performed by Hesperion XXI Directed by Jordi Savall *"Greensleeves" is a traditional English folk song and tune, a ground of the form called a romanesca. A broadside ballad by this name was registered at the London Stationer's Company in 1580 as "A New Northern Dittye of the Lady Greene Sleeves". It then appears in the surviving A Handful of Pleasant Delights (1584) as "A New Courtly Sonnet of the Lady Green Sleeves. To the new tune of Green sleeves." It remains debatable whether this suggests that an 'old' tune of "Greensleeves" was in circulation, or which one the familiar tune is. Many surviving sets of lyrics were written to this tune. The tune is also found in several late 16th century and early 17th century sources, such as Ballet's MS Lute Book and Het Luitboek van Thysius, as well as various manuscripts preserved in the Cambridge University libraries. This particular recording is based from one of those manuscripts.
