THE GROUNDHOGS are one of the most underrated British hardrock/bluesrock bands. They started in the late 1960s and recorded up to date more than two handful of albums. Tony (TS) McPhee, the man behind THE GROUNDHOGS performed over the years more than 1000 gigs with different line-ups. This one was filmed in Berlin in 1988 with Jon Camp on bass and Mick "Babyface" Jones on drums. In the same year their CD "Extremely Live" was released by SPM International. Funny Groundhog (Woodchuck)
A rare, rare opportunity to film this animal up close and so I decided to make a memorable video about it. The groundhog (Marmota monax), also known as a woodchuck, or in some areas as a land-beaver, is a rodent of the family Sciuridae, belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. Other marmots, such as the yellow-bellied and hoary marmots, live in rocky and mountainous areas, but the woodchuck is a lowland creature. It is widely distributed in North America and common in the northeastern and central United States. mdc.mo.gov Groundhogs are those furry weather forecasters of February. Also known as woodchucks, groundhogs spend the cold months in an underground burrow, hibernating. If you've seen a portly groundhog waddling along, you'll find its name is quite appropriate. They're stout animals, with strong legs built for digging. And, expert diggers they are, sometimes making a complete burrow in one day. Groundhogs are covered with a grizzly brown fur. They're one to two feet long, weighing up to 14 pounds. Of course, groundhogs are heftiest in fall just before hibernation, and they awaken skinny in spring, sometimes at half their fall weight. By early November most groundhogs are already hibernating. In this area, groundhogs begin emerging in early February. Contrary to popular belief, they come out looking for plants to eat, not their shadows.

Catching Groundhogs and Possums~Haveaheart Traps
Shot with my Nikon D90 and edited in iMovie 09. Our garden was getting destroyed by these varmints and I decided to put out our Haveahart trap to capture the Groundhogs and relocate them to a beautiful very large county park. At that time I didn't realize it was against the law to do this and only found this out this year when I caught a beautiful little white possum mom with all her babies in her pouch. Please see my current video on this beautiful mom and my relocation only a couple of blocks from my house in a nice wooded area.

This is our pet Ground Hogs-Daisy Mae & Boots getting some special treats for ground hogs day. They were hilarious eatting this 7 grain bread. It kept getting stuff to the roof of their mouth. My husband said this is nothing. He gives them his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are left from work some days and that is even funnier-watching them get that off the roof of their mouths. They have eat this since they were born!!!
