A trailer I made from footage I filmed in 2009 for the 50th anniversary of the coveted Golden Trumpet festival in Guca, Serbia. This will eventually lead to the making of a documentary about Guca and the origins of the festival.

VECNA PESMA GYPSY GROOVZ PARTY IN GUCA Ekrem Sajdic & Dusko Gojkovic

Some songs come and stay forever in our hearts. There are plenty of beautifull songs in Guca but this one moved the feeling of eternity into the people's soul. There is no sound as the sound in the center of the brass band half circle. There is no power but power of the brass band. Ekrem Sajdic as a founder of Gypsy Groovz Orchestra still did not say his last word. FiestaMania! the tour of Gypsy Groovz orchestra is still to come worldwide.

What Cheer? Brigade - Jovano - Live at Guca 2007

During our first European tour in 2007, we performed at the Guca Trumpet Festival (also known as the Dragacevo Assembly). As a foreign band, we performed on the World Stage. It was humbling to be received so well by folks in one of the global epicenters of traditional brass band music! The song is Jovano Jovanke, a traditional Macedonian song.

Markovic Orchestra Guca 2010 Serbia

Boban Markovic is a Serbian trumpet player and brass ensemble leader from Vladicin Han, frequently recognized as the greatest trumpet player to emerge from the Balkans. He and his brass band have received world acclaim and won numerous awards. The Boban Markovic Orchestra has been the leading Balkan Brass Band in Serbia over the last 17 years. They are from Vladicin Han, Southern Serbia, which is obviously heard in their music. They have won several of the most important prizes ("Golden Trumpet", "First Trumpet" and "The Best Orchestra") at the Guca trumpet festival, called "Dragacevski Sabor", which has been held every August in Central Serbia's town of Guca, since 1961. Every year "Sabor" gathers 20 of the best bands from all parts of Serbia, as well as some 300000 people in the audience. Winning there means more jobs for the bands, but also is so prestigious, that no one misses the festival and all the bands play for free. They performed music for one movie of Emir Kusturica: "Underground" as well as in a few other movies in the Balkans. They are the main characters of the award winning documentary film "Competition" and more featured in "Guca", a documentary about the Serbian trumpet festival. Marko Markovic also played the role of Romeo in the music film Gucha - Distant Trumpet by Dušan Milic.

Madness made in Serbia - Guca Trumpet Festival 2010

Dragacevo`s brass bands festival in Guca is a unique competition of folk brass bands in the world and one of the most important events of the overall national creativity and cultural amateurism in Serbia. Held each year in the first half of August (the first Festival was held in the churchyard of St. Archangel Gabriel`s Church in Guca, on the14th October 1961). Trumpeters from Serbia compete for the titles of the best orchestras and soloists in three categories: pioneer, youth and senior. Through the qualifying rounds in areas of eastern, western, southern and central Serbia and Vojvodina pass hundreds of bands, and about forty of them have the possibility to participate on final competition of brass bands in Guča. Winning some of the titles of Dragačevo's brass bands festival opens them the way for performances in world capitals, the national and international festivals, music programs, television, film ... During the period of five decades on the Festival, together with festival competitors, began to arrive guests: orchestras, cultural societies, singing groups, soloists, painters ... from various parts of Serbia, former Yugoslavia, and since the mid-eighties also from around the world. The number of participants in all Festival programs ranges over 1200, while the number of Festival visitors is hundreds of thousands - including tens of thousands of foreigners. In its content, in addition to trumpet competition, Festival is the overall review of national spirituality ...

TRUMPET REVOLUTION IN GUCA, PROTEST TO SAVE THE FESTIVAL

During 50 years long history fast growing festival in Guca could not cope with its own growth and follow the standards of world wide used copyrights. Now, when the festival is called Woodstock of the East, it is about time to follow the growth by implementation of world standards and flow into the tittle WORLD TRUMPET FESTIVAL with invitations to all trumpets from all different cultures and music styles. Ilija Stankovic, the representative of this festival turned around his back to the local professional patriots who are not legalizing the festival and fights for the rights of trumpet players who have never, in the history of this festival, got their performance and broadcasting fees.
