Mr.Polska - Gustav

Gustav HOLST: St. Paul's Suite (I. Jig, II. Ostinato)

Passing Through: www.youtube.com - Friends, Please visit my Poet friend "Passing Through's" YouTube channel: www.youtube.com , and support him - Thanks :) I. Jig: Vivace II. Ostinato: Presto Gustav Holst (21 September 1874 - 25 May 1934) was a British composer and was a music teacher for over 20 years. Holst is most famous for his orchestral suite The Planets.Having studied at the Royal College of Music in London, his early work was influenced by Ravel,Grieg, Richard Strauss, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, but most of his music is highly original, with influences from Hindu spiritualism and English folk tunes.Holst's music is well known for unconventional use of metre and haunting melodies. In 1905, Holst was appointed Director of Music at St Paul's Girls' School in Hammersmith, London, where he composed the successful and still popular St Paul's Suite for the school orchestra in 1913. St. Paul's Suite (Op. 29 no. 2) is a composition for orchestra. It was written in 1912, but due to revisions wasn't published until 1922. The suite has four movements: I. Jig: Vivace II. Ostinato: Presto III. Intermezzo: Andante con moto IV. Finale (The Dargason): Allegro (We appreciate Wikipaedia's contributions in the descriptions here)
Gustav Mahler - "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen" (Rückert) - Fischer-Dieskau

During the summers of 1901 and 1902, Gustav Mahler set to music five poems by the German Romantic poet Friedrich Rückert. The third of these, "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen", portrays a world-weary artist who exists in our everyday world, but who actually lives his life in another, more ethereal plane reserved for great artists. Mahler, much maligned as composer during his lifetime, identified strongly with the poem, saying that it expressed his very self. In fact, he felt so strongly about this song that he reused much of the music in the famous Adagietto of his Fifth Symphony, which he composed during the summer of 1902. The orchestral song begins with a mournful melody played by solo English horn. This melody is then restated and extended by the singer during the first stanza, which speaks of the artists isolation in a world that already thinks him dead. The tempo increases slightly for the second stanza, during which the artist reflects that he does not really care what the world thinks. The third stanza is remarkably peaceful as the artist describes the other world in which he resides: I live alone in my heaven, in my love, in my song. The gentle consonant-dissonant alternation of the violins and English horn in the coda seems to portray the artist staring beyond the horizon into his musical paradise. Many consider "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen", as Mahlers greatest song, one of his most profound and moving works and was of immense personal significance ...

Gustav Mahler - Adagietto (from Symphony N°5)

Gustav Mahler's Adagietto from the Fifth Symphony. The audio recording here is specialy edited for the YouTube channel in order to maintain its completeness. There are no cut parts, this is the whole Adagietto, for your enjoyment. ---------------------------------- A note from the author(s): Dear, friends, I thank you for your nice comments and I am glad that you are enjoying these beautiful musical master pieces. I noticed that, from time to time, people will ask why is the image of Jean-Marc Barr on some of the clips. Well, it is a long story. Me (Mare79, a "name" from the image) and "Mayol" (a friend of mine) have made these several classical music videos during the time we were on one forum once. The picture of Jean-Marc Bar was the image of his avatar, and since all these videos were generally his idea, we decided to place a full photo of Jean-Marc in them. Jean-Marc had a role in one of his movies where he played a character named Mayol, so... It was just an idea at that time, but it still remained after all, since we didn't want to remove the video in order to upload a new one without this photo and make this clip an invalid entry in your favourites playlists. So, the smaller image represents the photo of the composer. Enjoy the music, and have a nice day. Best regards to all.

1st battalion rangers with the Carl Gustav recoilless rifle in about 1999. An amazingly accurate weapon. Fort Stewart. These are rangers practicing marksmanship not speed drills. What you see is not how we would do it in combat. The gunner is taking his time and the assistant gunner steps back to avoid the damage that can occur to the body when near the weapon for too many rounds per day. The CG is so loud it feels like you have been punched in your soul. The rounds fired in this vid are; HEAT, HE, smoke, and TP.

Holst- Venus, the Bringer of Peace- The Planets Suite

English composer Gustav Holst composed The Planets between 1914 and 1916. The Birmingham premiere of the suite took place in 1918, fifteen years before Pluto was discovered. Though the Planets became by far the most popular work of Holst's and one of the most known pieces by an English-born composer, Holst did not consider the piece one of his finest. Partially because of this, he never wrote an eighth movement, though unexpectedly the IAU relegated Pluto from its status as planet proper in 2006.
