It was a very important device not only for HTC and Microsoft, but for the smartphone industry in general. Released in the early summer of 2008, a full year after the iPhone hit store shelves, the Touch Diamond represented an industry-wide shift from styli-centric interface design to finger-friendly usability. TouchFLO 3D from HTC made it easy to operate a Windows Mobile device with just a finger. Not only that, but it brought information out of programs and onto your main screen, so that you could easily check the weather, play music, call a contact, and more. The Touch Diamond ran with a Qualcomm 528MHz CPU with 192MB of RAM. Certainly, this looks a bit weak in comparison do devices like the Atrix 4G, which pack two 1GHz CPU cores and 1GB of RAM. The Touch Diamond was indeed a bit slow, and the resistive touchscreen lacked the responsiveness of the iPhone's capacitive screen, but it brought so many innovations to the table in a nice petite size, that it was easy to forget the minor inconveniences like low memory errors or the lack of pinch-to-zoom. Yet another nugget from the ongoing Windows Phone 7 announcement is the HTC Mozart, which we had seen a glimpse of this morning in Australia. The HTC 7 Mozart comes with an 8MP camera with a useful Xenon flash, Dolby Mobile and SRS features, 8GB of storage, an aluminum body, and a 3.7-inch screen. Please don't hate me when I say that the Windows Phone is a rip-off the Google Android OS. The hardware is impressive but let's talk about the software. Yes the animations are cool but within the sub categories it's all Android (even the weather app inside the HUB) I like the maps, it has a smooth feeling in it with the bing technology otherwise I don't see any innovation within the OS, either apple or google have already released such features which makes this eyecandy just another copy of its competitors (typical Microsoft)

I had an opportunity to go hands-on with the high sec windows phone 7, HTC HD7. With a 4.3 in. 480 x 800 display, CPU at 1GHz, ROM/RAM at 512/ 576MB, this device is lightning fast. Although it is not equipped with key features such as copy&paste, Microsoft says that updates will be coming soon enough, which I am guessing is pretty close. For those of you who HATE Windows XP, take a look. I'll assure you that you'll be thinking twice :-)
