WATCH IN HD! Hey guys. Went out today to do a little filming and this is what I came back with. This is the 2nd test from the lovely Canon HV30 camera :) This video was shot in 60i (HDV option in camera) It's the bare camera, no attachments WHATSOEVER! Vanguard VT-508 tripod was used. To get the sort of depth of field you see in this video, simply zoom in towards your object and play around with the manual focus. Filming took 30 mins, editing 15 mins and rendering took 1 hour and 37 mins. Color correction added in Sony Vegas 7 btw. Hope you enjoy it. Soundtrack: "Deep Honey" by "Goldfrapp" INSTRUCTIONS FOR RENDERING IN SONY VEGAS: When you have captured your footage into vegas (File, - Capture Video - Rewind tape to begginning or where you want to start capture from, then press record on the capture video window after selecting destination folder and such) Then you wont to go to File, - Render As... choose .wmv as your file type (should be at bottom) Then click the custom button on the right hand side. On the video tab set: Mode: CBR Image Size: High Definition (1280x720) Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000 (Square) - IMPORTANT! (DO NOT pick the HD pixels, trust me, it makes the video frame smaller and won't fit the youtube frame!) Frame rate: whatever you want or the frame rate you recorded in (24fps is more film like) set video smoothness to sharpest. In audio you want CBR and 128 kbps, 44 khz And in project tab you will want best rendering quality. These are the standard youtube <b>...</b>

Having fun on a Friday evening with my HD video cameras. This is a side by side comparison of my Flip Ultra HD and my Canon HV30. I picked up the Flip to use as a field camera for the podcast so I wouldn't have to bring the Canon. I'm very impressed with the quality of the Flip. The files work easily with my Final Cut for editing. All sound in this video is from the Flip. The Rode VideoMic on the Canon is there for show. (It is a great mic, but I also wanted to test the sound abilities of the Flip.

She provides a brief overview of some of the modifications and upgrades to the HV30 over the HV20 model which was rated #1 consumer camcorder in 2007. Some tips Dr. Diana has: *You will need a firewire cable to upload your video to your computer. * HV20 and 30 capture video via Dv tape not SD card. *HV30 uses a mini SD card but only for capturing digital still photographs. * You do not need to use high def tapes for the camera. However, use a good+ quality ie, Panasonic AMQ (AY-DVM63AMQ). * Dr. Diana uses Pinnacle studio ultimate version 11. i got the opportunity to test the tokina converters, so i thought i might as well do a quick comparison with the Canon converters i already have. The converters in this test is: Tokina video wide converter 0.7x (comes with a few steprings, i used 46mm for this test just because my canon converter is 46mm) Canon WD-H46 0.7x (46mm) (i used a 43-46 stepring to attach them to my 43mm HV30) Conclusion: you can see some black edges when using the tokina, but i think it's because i use 2 steprings so it goes out a bit from the camera lens. the canon doesn't make any vignetting at all compared to the tokina. there was a lot mor chromatic aberration with the tokina converter. i would recommend the Canon WD-H46. i think it costs almost the double, but if you want nice footage, it's worth it!

I wanted to share with you the Rig that I designed for my Canon HV30 for interviews and studio projects. In part one, I showed you a rig for a moving subject, but in this design, I added a light, and tripod. (Note: This is also good for Canon HV20 and HV40 models.)
