A basic look at the three most common types of handguns: single action, double action, and semi-automatic. The firearms are a 2nd Generation Colt SAA in .45 Colt, a beautiful .44 magnum 629 in 3" barrel, and a Colt Series '80 Model 1991 in 45 ACP. This is mostly for the novice shooter, the beginner. Based on questions I get, I know I assume more knowledge than some of our newest shooters possess yet. I'll try to do more videos of this nature and even create a PLAYLIST for BASICS. I think we do a lot to help out new shooters, but I realize that I assume a certain level of knowledge in most of my videos and likely talk over some people's heads. Of course, when one is 6'8", he's always talking over people's heads. :-) By the way, I think people totally new to guns get a pretty good idea about what these three main action types are about. If you want to get more complex, add your own approach, or expand upon it, please help yourself to doing a video on it yourself.

Desert Eagle Mark VII handgun: General overview, shooting/reloading ammo economics, and firing. Transcript: Hi, its Dr. Bilderburger. Here's my DE, hollywood star, video game legend, but thats not why I got it. In fact I bought it used from someone who was sucked into the glamor image, fired it once and said, too much gun. Thanks to that idiot, I got one basically brand new for cheap. I bought it for fun factor and for its engineering! This pistol differs from most in that its action is more like a hand held assault rifle than any pistol. It operates using a gas tube system, and even features a rotating bolt which positively locks with the barrel, like an M16. So, a rifle on the inside, and big honkin handgun on the outside. You can see it disassembles quickly and easily, a barrel change can be done in 2 seconds if you're good. Were looking at the barrel which has polygonal rifling, sadly you cannot see at this video resolution. All in all, Desert Eagle is a masterpiece of engineering. Ammunition: left to right, speer Gold Dot factory produced ammo, the other 3 are my handloads. Why handload? Currently its 2$ or more per shot with most 50 action express ammo, but you can get components and make them for as little as 36 cents a pop. 50 cal Carbide reloading dies cost too much, so I got the Lee steel dies, just means you have to lube the cases. Spray lube seems to work. I use use the lee handheld priming system. Unfortunately 50 cal cases are too fat... unless you take some <b>...</b>

Brief late night video on an excellent pistol. This in my opinion is the quintessential 9mm! Even if you don't particularly like the cartridge, this gun may sway your mind on owning a gun that utilizes this caliber. It's just such a sweet shooting pistol. It's hard to match how comfortable and natural one of these feels. I'm clearly biased towards it, but for good reason. This is THE 9mm. The CZ-75B is what happens when you take the greatest aspect of the Sig Sauer P210 (slide in frame) and combine it with yet another incredible pistol - the Browning Hi Power (double stack mag -- cocked and locked). Jeff Cooper didn't give the CZ-75 his approval for nothing. I love all guns, but this one is special. It's too bad it's not more popular over here in the states. People are really missing out in a world dominated by Glocks and Springfields. I like my Glock, but if I could only have one, well... you know which one I'd be taking. CZ all the way. This HD video of the Glock 32 includes several shooting segments (including POV) and a brief tabletop review. There is also footage showing the case support in the G32 barrel. The G32 is the compact Glock model for .357 SIG, a caliber designed to replicate .357 Magnum short barrel revolver performance in a semiautomatic handgun. Typical .357 SIG velocities are 1350 fps for 125 grain ammo and 1250 fps for 140 and 147 grain loads. The .357 SIG is often referred to as a "9mm magnum". My perceived recoil places it between a 9mm +P and moderate to hot .40 S&W load, which should be in the comfort zone for experienced shooters. I believe that .357 SIG recoil is manageable with good accuracy if proper techniques are utilized. The .357 SIG cartridge, released in 1994, was a collaborative project between Sig Sauer and Federal Cartridge. Compared to other "service calibers", the .357 SIG has a small but loyal consumer following in addition to being adopted by several law enforcement agencies in the US, both at the state and federal level. The .357 SIG is currently used by the US Secret Service and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. This Glock 32 will be used for testing of .357 SIG JHP ammo in a ballistic gel format. Truly an insane handgun. Here's the email that was attached when a friend sent this to my dad: "You may have to watch Recoil twice. Try to follow the gun. This video is basically a "show and tell" custom built on a Thompson Encore (fancy version of the Thompson Contender). The Caliber... 600 Nitro Express. that's right...an elephant gun round in a handgun. The story goes that the guy that built it is some kind of custom gun maker, and built this as an exhibition piece. He takes it to the range with him just to show it off, and the big guy that shot it (in the video) had been bugging the builder to let him shoot it. Now think about this...only until fairly recently (early-mid '80's IIRC) the 600 Nitro Express was hands down the biggest, nastiest, hardest hitting, and heaviest recoiling weapon you could buy. It was designed for one simple purpose...to knock an elephant flat on his butt. IMO, it was really built as an exhibition piece for guys "compensating"...this cartridge is known for breaking collarbones, arms, shoulders...of the shooter! Think about this, in the gun world they use what is termed as a "recoil index" to kind of give prospective buyers an idea of what a gun kicks like. A .30-06 gets a rating of a 1.0, which for many people is about the limit of what they can shoot multiple rounds thru comfortably. A 243 is rated at like a .4, a .270 was like a .8, etc. The ..600 Nitro Express is rated at 9.4...9.4 times more punishing power than a 30-06. Now watch the <b>...</b>

Review of the TruGlo TFO night sight. Please note, these are MUCH brighter in darkness than they appear on the video; my camera is not going to replicate human vision in low light. It's no fluke that the 1911 style of handgun is still popular more than 100 yrs after its inception. Designed by firearms design genius John Moses Browning, the 1911 was ground breaking in its capabilities: it was accurate, reliable, durable, and hit hard in its .45 ACP chambering. It quickly acquired a loyal following as it fought in both World Wars, Korea, and even Vietnam with distinction. And that reputation with these returned servicemen continued on into their civilian lives when they sought to acquire their own 1911s. In this video however, I concentrate on the Philosophy of Use or POU for the type and address the design's capabilities when evaluated for role. POUs including the Go to War Gun (GTWG), Home Defense, Competition and Recreation, Concealed Carry, and "Addiction" handgun are discussed in detail with pros and cons identified. Steel framed 1911s predominate the market but are heavy for their limited magazine capacity (single stack versions). But for absolute durability, quicker shot recovery, less fatigue in extended shooting, and gunsmithing capes, the steel framed versions remain popular. Depending on POU, they are appropriated and preferred. AS a GTWG, I prefer that aluminum or Scandium framed 1911s (and in the other POUs as well). Training with the type is mandatory and the 1911 with its manual safety offers some chances for mistakes when under stress. Size and weight and firepower considerations for the 1911 are addressed. Against the Kahr CW series, it compares in value but weighs a substantial 3 ounces less. As shown in my companion shooting video, the PF-9 is a good shooter too once you learn the trigger and get accustomed to the somewhat snappy recoil. It can readily serve as a concealed carry option, officers backup gun, or as a possible all-around home defense pistol as well (a lighter weight, more concealable gun like the PF-9 could prove to be more versatile and more used by the homeowner in the long run). Initial production versions of the Kel-Tec PF-9 were fraught with reliability and quality problems and some may mistakenly think these issues persist. They dont. Choosing a concealed carry firearm can be a daunting task, often involving trips to various gun stores, consultations with friends that own firearms, late-night internet forum browsing, and possibly asking a spouse how much money one is allowed to spend. Along the way, various rules might be set - "it has to be in a caliber starting with 4," or "only a revolver is always reliable," or "You can't spend more than $300 on something silly like that." When I worked in a gun store (there's a phrase I don't like to repeat often), I encountered this all the time. I would often have to help someone select a firearm based on arbitrary rules that Uncle Jerry had set forth - despite Uncle Jerry's complete lack of knowledge. With those experiences in mind, I've decided to create a video on the subject, being as brief as possible while still explaining my opinions. Keep in mind that they're opinions - feel free to seek out other advice - just take Uncle Jerry's with a grain of salt.

The gun is real and the bullets shown are the actual size of the rounds, on a standard monitor, in the standard you-tube video window. The 'Mag-Port' recoil compensation holes can be seen at the business end of the barrel, these holes let some of the blast out before the bullet has left the barrel, in so reducing the back pressure enough to lower the recoil to an acceptable degree. In fact the gun only rises up 60 degrees when fired. This might sound quite a lot, but a .44 Magnum Super Ruger BlackHawk is about the same, consequently, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise to experienced pistol and revolver shooters.
