Kaufhaus - zabytkowe osiedle robotnicze położone w Rudzie Śląskiej. Jest to charakterystyczny ciąg budynków zlokalizowanych na łuku obecnej ulicy Niedurnego. Osiedle powstawało w kilku etapach, pierwsze 22 budynki zbudowane zostały w 1880 roku. Kaufhaus usytuowany jest na granicy dwóch przemysłowych dzielnic Rudy Śląskiej Nowego Bytomia i Chebzia. W II połowie XIX wieku zwany był kolonią Gute Hoffnung, w latach 30. XX wieku - po plebiscytach, kiedy osiedle to znalazło się po polskiej stronie granicy zostało nazwane Kolonią Styczyńskiego. Zostało wybudowane dla pracowników powstałej w 1840 roku huty "Pokój". Budynki mieszkalne na osiedlu to typowe familoki, z elewacją budynków ze skromnymi detalami architektonicznymi, mające dwa piętra i dwuspadowy dach. Domy budowane były w dwóch typach: w pierwszym typie na każdym piętrze umieszczono sześć małych mieszkań, do których wchodziło się z jednej klatki schodowej. Zaplecze gospodarcze i sanitariaty były zlokalizowane na podwórzu. W drugim typie domów zbudowano dwie klatki schodowe, na każdym piętrze znajdowały się po dwa duże mieszkania, składające się z dwóch większych pokoi (śl: izb) oraz kuchni. Na osiedlu z czasem powstała również część usługowa, wybudowano m.in: dom noclegowy dla samotnych robotników. W 1904 roku, na zakończenie pierwszego etapu budowy zbudowano w samym środku osiedla dom towarowy, od którego osiedle zaczerpnęło nazwę. 1797 wurde die namensgebende Königshütte als preußisches Staatsunternehmen gegründet. Sie war eins der ersten mit Dampfkraft betriebenen Hüttenwerke auf dem europäischen Kontinent. Ein 1802 angestochener Hochofen war damals der größte Europas. Seit 1871 war der Betrieb Teil der Vereinigten Königs- und Laurahütte. Adolph von Menzel reiste 1875 nach Königshütte, um hier Studien für sein Gemälde Eisenwalzwerk zu betreiben.Die Stadtgemeinde Königshütte im oberschlesischen Kreis Beuthen war zum 17. Juli 1868 [4] aus dem Gutsbezirk Königshütte, Hüttenwerk, Kolonie Erdmannswille, Charlottenhof und aus Teilen der Landgemeinde Chorzow und der Gutsbezirke Ober Heiduk, Mittel Lagiewnik, Ober Lagiewnik und Schwientochlowitz gegründet worden. Die Veröffentlichung des königlichen Dekrets zur Stadterhebung durch den Oberpräsidenten der Provinz Schlesien erfolgte am 17. April 1869. Zum ersten kommissarischen Bürgermeister der neugegründeten Stadt wurde am 9. März 1869 der Bürgermeister a. D. Lange aus Bernau berufen und zu seinem ordentlichen Nachfolger wurde ein Jahr später der Gerichtsassessor Goetz..Seit dem 20.
