Provisioning at Tampa General Hospital

www.ibm.com Matt Hickmott discusses how IBM Tivoli Identity Manager improves the onboarding and offboarding process at Tampa General Hospital. My name's Matt Hickmott. I'm an Information Security Analyst with Tampa General Hospital and I support the identity and access management systems. Our goal is to redefine our processes for our onboarding and offboarding, because they are extremely time-consuming, resource-intensive, and is a huge security risk for our environment... We'll also be integrating with our portal so that we have a central point of contact for all of our customers, whether it's internal employees or it's our medical staff services or students where they have a single point of entry... We chose IBM's Tivoli Identity Manager because of the supportability of that application and the ability to expand on that application. It is extremely robust. It is a wonderful platform and framework to work within and is completely customizable to meet our business needs long term. ... we currently went through our phase 1 process and we've begun provisioning access for our employees so that it provisions our active directory and some other services for them and really streamlines the process... Initially provisioning was taking approximately two to three weeks to get someone access to the resources that they needed in order to perform their job roles. We've dramatically decreased that. It's almost real-time for some applications... Phase 2 of our project is going to roll ...

Cherry Central Turns to IBM to Ensure Food Safety for Consumers

With more than six billion cases of fruits and vegetables transported around the United States each year, there are many points throughout the supply chain at which food may be exposed to possible contamination. In fact, outbreaks of illnesses traced to food carry an annual price tag of $152 billion in our country alone. Cherry Central is collaborating with IBM using analytics technology to track food items as they travel from the farm to supermarket shelves. Employees can tell where a jar of applesauce was produced, which orchard the apples were grown in, what processing plant was used, when it was processed, what temperature it was kept at and when it was delivered to the consumer. Workers can use mobile devices to record where food is stored and when it's moved, making communications reliable and instantaneous to notify customers on shipments and arm a small number of individuals to do a lot of complex tasks in the event of a recall. Using IBM analytics technology, Cherry Central has improved productivity by 50 percent.
