View full video on YouTube at: bit.ly Local Superhero was nominated for Best Production Effects in the Irish Music Television Awards 2011: irishmusictelevision.com Although we transform into superheroes in the video, we wanted to have a back-story element. Initially we thought about a video backstory in the form of cutaways, but decided a comic book back-story would be much more fitting and achievable. We took references from movies & games, and took photos of each other to match the frame exactly. These photos were then processed and merged with the adapted versions of the frames in order to have digital illustrations of us in comic form. Each individual pane was then placed into the layout of a real life comic, and filmed to enable a transition to be filmed on set for each character's comic. Comic book transitions from steadicam footage used 'Twitch' plugin by Video Co pilot in After Effects. Band comic book effect used 'Toonit' plugin from Red Giant also done in Adobe After Effects CS4.
