IT outscores Chris Paul 17 to 13, shooting 7-15 and holding CP3 to 4-16 overall and 1-10 in the half court despite blatant favoritism by the striped ones. Due to Cousins in foul trouble (ending with only 8 points) and leading scorer Thornton out injured, IT was often moved over to SG (IT lead the Kings in scoring) with the Kings offense run point forward by Evans or T-Will and IT only recorded 1 assist but also 5 rebounds and 2 key steals.
In round one, IT dominated Tony Parker. This game was more of a battle, but IT still came out on top with 21 points (6-11), 3 rebounds, and 8 assists to just a single TO while holding Parker to 10 points on 3-8 shooting on the defensive end. It was IT night in Sacramento with friends and family there to watch, and IT did not disappoint, putting on a passing clinic with highlight dish after highlight dish to wow the home town crowd who came to see him play!

The Kings have launched a #IsaiahRoY rookie of the year campaign for IT so I decided to post an extended version of the Kings vs Cavs game from Feb. 19. Irving is all but a lock considering he was a day one starter. Still, it can't hurt that the #60 last pick flat out-played the #1 overall pick in a head to head match-up on just his second start. IT narrowly missed a massive triple-double answering Irving's 23 points, but trumping him 11 assists to 1, and 8 rebounds to 3 as well as getting the defensive/shooting nod hitting 8-16 and limiting Irving to 8-21. I'd also point out that IT was clutch scoring 10 4th quarter points to Irving's 2 (and also coming up big for his team with the assist on DMC's go-ahead basket) until the bonehead Evans foul that sent Irving to the line with 0.6 seconds left.
IT puts together another excellent game looking to finish strong down the stretch of his rookie season to claim first team all rookie honors at the least and hopefully a runner up for NBA Rookie of the Year. He finished near a double-double with 18 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, and a steal with only a single turnover. His shooting percentage was a pedestrian 7-18, but it should have been 9-19 for 21 points if not for two blown goal-tending calls that were called as blocked lay-ups. He also nearly had a spectacular put-back dunk but he didn't quite get up high enough, but it's coming sometime, folks!

IT scores 19 points on an efficient 6-8 and 7-9 from the line including two clutch FTs to tie the game with 31 seconds remaining. He also dishes 6 assists to only 1 TO, grabs 4 boards, and swipes 2 steals in a win over the playoff contending Jazz on the road.
IT always seems to be furious when playing OKC as befits a man from the 206. This time it was because of the zebras taking him out of the offense in the second half. After a torrid first half picking up from where he left off in the first game, the refs decided that was enough of that and let him get mugged for no calls. He still passed well and played good defense finishing with 12 points on 4-10 shooting, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds in only 28 minutes as he DNP in the 4th quarter until the final possession. Kings play OKC yet again on Tuesday for the third meeting in twelve days. Stay tuned.

The latest chapter in The Continuing Adventures of Mr. Irrelevant finds our underdawg hero IT taking on last season's #1 draft pick, the evil Wizard John Wall! Just two games previous, IT out-dueled this year's #1 pick Kyrie Irving. But Wall looked to have the better of IT until a double technical was issued to Wall and IT on the bench: "Me and John are good friends, and we were just going back and forth." IT said, "Get somebody out there to stop me [Wall said]," and I said, "Okay, wait until I come back in the second half." So it was that after scoring 15 points on 6-8 FGs in the first half, Wall made the critical and fatal error of doubting IT and telling him he couldn't do something. Famous last words. Brandishing his mighty weapon Massive Chip on Shoulder, IT harassed Wall to 4 TOs and limited him to 6 points on 2-7 shooting in the second half while IT poured in 16 points on 8-12 shooting culminating with a dagger fast break reverse lay-up in Wall's grill to emerge victorious as the Player of the Game.

Early on as a starter, IT got schooled by Nash, but two Rookie of the Month awards later, IT showed the vet what he's learned. IT torched in 25 points on 8-13 shooting to go with 7 assists. Nash also had a nice game of offense going for 18 points and 12 assists, however IT was not paired against him on the defensive end, instead drawing duty against Shannon Brown whom he held to 12 points on 5-14 shooting. IT did go toe to toe against Nash on defense in the final minutes of the game and did quite well.

A furious IT scores at a furious pace against the Thunder, trying to get his team to show some signs of life. Scoring a team high 21 points, draining 8-12 shots of every kind all over the floor, he was pushing for a new career high but was yanked after just 25 minutes of play in a humiliating stomping apparently to give the deep reserves some floor time. He again had no turnovers on the night and passed well, but came away with only 3 assists as the non-IT starters combined for a miserable 12-40 (30%) from the field.
IT brings his hard hat and lunch pail to this one against one of the hard-nosed defenses in the league in Memphis and things got pretty chippy as IT got laid out twice on punishing fouls in this game. But the "Hustlin' Husky" takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' for 18 points (5-10), 7 assists, 5 boards, and a pair of steals in 34 minutes. IT provides the spark in a sandwich game scoring 9 points in the first quarter and 9 points in the fourth quarter making 8-9 from the stripe to ice the game and help seal the third straight Kings win.

Not much to see here in a 26 point laugher against the hapless Bobcats that was effectively over in all of six minutes. IT played light minutes and light duty, scoring 8 points in 15 minutes of the first half then deferring to the bench after the Kings took a 15 point half time lead, only chipping in a pair of FTs in 10 minutes of third quarter play. He finished with 10 points on 3-7 shooting, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. He did extend his streak of one or no turnovers to seven games, again only committing one here.

Bittersweet post as IT wraps up an abbreviated but meteoric rookie season with an abbreviated game against the Lakers, playing only 26 minutes. But he gave a fitting curtain call with a hyper efficient showing, scoring 11 points on 5-6 shooting, 7 assists to just a single TO, and a board and steal.
Not what I expected from IT this game only 11 points on 3-10 shooting (although three misses were blocks while trying to draw contact) after scoring 33 on 12-22 over 53 minutes the first two games. He really wasn't looking to score, and Coach Smart said in a game interview that he put the emphasis for IT to set up his teammates in this game and boy, did he ever! You want to talk about a player who makes everybody around him better? How about all the other four starters scoring 18+ each for 92 points on a combined 37-61 (61%) shooting? And that was why IT played all 46 minutes of this game, he was a maestro conducting a symphony of offense, ended up short of a double-double with 9 assists but had many more good passes than that, and how about only 2 turnovers? A rookie PG against one of the best teams in the NBA, 46 minutes, 2 TOs and I thought he got fouled on one ball lost out of bounds. Oh yeah, he also played good defense as usual, swiped 2 steals, grabbed 5 rebounds, and only committed 2 fouls all game chasing Westbrook, Sefolosha, and Cook throughout. He also had a block on Cook that they missed and wasn't recorded in the stat sheet.
Isaiah scored the first 13 points of the 4th for Sacramento, going 5-5 from the field (3-3 from three) in doing so.
