Gregory Isaacs (born Gregory Anthony Isaacs, 15 July 1950, Fletchers Land, Kingston, Jamaica) is a Jamaican reggae musician. In the 1970s, he emerged as one of the most prolific and popular recording artists in Jamaica. He released a number of self-produced singles on his African Museum (JA) record label, formed in 1973 with Errol Dunkley. Much of Isaacs' output reflected the 'conscious' themes of roots reggae, but Isaacs was equally adept at interpreting more mainstream lovers rock material. His hits include "My Only Lover", "Sinner Man" and "Mr. Cop", recorded at Lee Perry's Black Ark Studio. A period in the 1970s with the GG's label and its record producer, Alvin Ranglin produced hits like "Border" and "Number One". Many consider his best music to be from the various producers and labels he recorded with in the 1970s, with rootsier songs like "Slave Master" from the classic Mr Isaacs album (1977), contrasting with the optimism of songs like "Love is Overdue" and the beautiful, moving "Loving Pauper". He signed with Virgin Records and then Charisma Records in the late 1970s, and material from this period gave him a wider international audience. Songs such as "Soon Forward", "If I Don't Have You" and "Let's Dance" are often re-released on compilation albums from this period. Issac Delgado - La Formula
Issac Delgado (born Issac Felipe Delgado-Ramirez on September 11, 1962 in Marianao, Habana, Cuba) is one of Cuba's biggest salsa stars. His father, Luis Delgado, was a tailor and his mother, Lina Ramirez, was an actress, dancer and singer in the Teatro Musical de La Habana. When he was ten years old he entered the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory where he studied violoncello, an instrument that did not interest him. At twelve he left the conservatory, and pursued the study of sports and soccer. He later graduated in sport education. At 18, Isaac joined the group "Proyecto" at the request of the pianist, Gonzalo Rubalcaba. This sparked his innate love for music. It was at this point that he decided to study vocal technique with one of the best vocal instructors in Cuba, Mariana De Gonish. He also enrolled in the school for professional musicians, "Ignacio Cervantes. In 1983 he began his professional career becoming one of the members of the Orquestra de Pancho Alonso. He then began to travel internationally with the orchestra and recorded his first CD. In 1987 he becomes the vocalist for Galaxia and records his second CD. In 1988, he became the lead vocalist in the group NG La Banda. It was with this group that he found fame. He recorded three CDs with this band and was awarded the 1990-1991 EGREM prize. "Rastafari is the only way" the singer proclaims for this deeply troubled times. www.kokyprik.com - Its been some time since the night hip hop icon Tupac Shakur was shot five times at the Quad studios in New York. The event took place back on November 30th 1994 and it sent shock waves through the hip hop culture. It also planted the seed for a beef that dominated the rap scene in the mid nineties and you could even say that in the end the beef claimed the lives of Tupac and Biggie Smalls. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have all ways been murky but on the eve of what would have been Tupacs 40th birthday a man named Dexter Issac came forward confessing to the being one of the shooters back in 94. He says he robbed and shot Tupac on the orders of Jimmy 'Henchman' Rosemond. Perhaps now we will find some answers. We created this video using snippets from the media.
