JX - You Belong To Me (the longer version) 1995
The XL version of 'You Belong To Me' by JX, originally released in 1995 by UK dance-label Hooj Choons. Produced by Jake Williams and Red Jerry. JX is the project of Jake Williams from the UK. In 1993 he was only 16 years old when he sent a demo-tape to some UK dance-labels. Producer Red Jerry of Hooj Choons picked him out and produced his first releases. Red Jerry also produced 17 years old Felix back in 1992. The debut-track of JX was released in 1994 ('Son Of A Gun') and was an instant hit all over Europe. When the second release 'You Belong To Me' also hit the charts in Europe, the much bigger dance-label FFRR signed JX and released his work worldwide. JX only released five tracks over a period of 10 years and they were all very succesfull.

This is a demo of the Roland JX-8p using a special patch I created to emulate TB-303 type sounds. Audio is run through a Digitech DF-7 Distortion Factory. Go West - We Close Our Eyes Cover (JX-8P)
I really like the production and arrangements of Go West's music so thought I would cover their 1985 hit We Close Our Eyes. There are 2 versions of this song, the later version had different drums and bass, I have covered the original, As far as I know Go West were big users of the Roland JX8P, Jupiter 8, PPG and Emulator II. I remember reading somewhere that they used a SH101 for the bass on this along with the above mentioned. I have always had a suspicion though that maybe the drums, brass and samples on this track were done on a Fairlight, who knows. Just a note as to how I make my vids as I am often asked.... I leave a camera rolling as I record in the parts off the keys and sync the videos up later in editing. What you are hearing is the finished mix after eq, effects and compression has been added. Most synth sounds on my cover come from the JX8P, the main brassy riff is a big layered sound consisting of different acoustic brass patches at different octaves and JX8P analogue brass all mixed together. The bass is also layered in the verses and choruses. I arranged the drums in Cubase.

Roland JX-3P and PG-200
I wrote a very basic step sequence which I synced to a drum machine. I scrolled thru a few presets and tweaked them on the fly. I used the PG-200 but I'm getting ready to sell it because I find I can get cool results just using the synth's internal edit set-up! The JX-3P sounds awesome and definately has its own character. My cat Oscar heard the racket and insisted getting involved half way thru!

90's Future - Roland JX - 8P
"90's future" is a one - day - project by DJ Tronic and me. We called it "90's future" because of the sound, which reminds me a bit of "2 unlimited - no limit". Dj Tronic made the mixdown and the beat with an TR 808 vst. I made all Synthsounds on a Roland JX - 8P. I made all riffs and the bassline. Now enjoy and listen to it.
