Director: Neill Blomkamp Writer: Neill Blomkamp Studio: Sony Pictures Cast: William Allen Young, Jason Cope, Sharlto Copley Release: August 14, 2009 _____________________________________________ Halo Movie Postponed for 2012 (Not Accurate) Peter Jackson was the executive producer of the upcoming Halo Movie (Postpone) but now he is working on this current movie District 9. Due to rising movie costs and concerns over the current directors experience, both Universal and Fox Studios have pulled out of the Halo movie production. Since the budget was supposedly pushing $200 million already, and Microsoft was demanding a great portion of the profits, the studio executives have finally crushed Halo fans dreams. Peter Jackson was the executive producer, but Neil Blomkamp hasnt even directed a single feature film yet, with only a short film called Alive in Joburg to brag about, so its hard to get pissed at Fox and Universal for their decisions. This doesnt mean that well never get a Halo movie, but Microsoft isnt making it easy for fan fulfillment when they are demanding an upfront fee of five million for the rights to the film, and 10% of the total profits. DISTRICT 9 Exclusive Cast and Crew Q&A (Part 1 of 3) 28/08/09, CT, ZA

The highly original (and successful) sci-fi / action movie District 9 (set in South Africa) was released in its country of origin on Friday 28 August '09. Creating film festivals like the HORRORFEST and X FEST, the latest Flamedrop event launched the same weekend as DISTRICT 9 - the CELLUDROID Sci-Fi / Anime / Fantasy Film Festival. The synergy was too perfect, Flamedrop took the opportunity (since no-one else did) to hook up a special release day show of DISTRICT 9 (next door to the CELLUDROID fest) with cast & crew present, a Q&A following the show (at the independent Labia Theatre). Something Wicked was on board to interview actors Jason Cope and Vanessa Haywood, as well as supervising producer Michael Murphey in front of the eager audience, covering everything from character, special FX, blowing stuff up and the movie's theme, to shooting in South Africa, the director, and much more in-depth info. If you haven't seen this amazing movie produced by Peter Jackson and directed by South African born Neill Blomkamp, get a move on! Trojans Corner Movie Review - District 9

District 9 is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp, written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, and produced by Peter Jackson. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, and Robert Hobbs. Copley plays the role of Wikus van de Merwe, a bureaucrat assigned to relocate an extraterrestrial race of aliens, derogatorily referred to as "prawns", from a refugee camp in Johannesburg to a new one outside the city. After being exposed to a substance that will slowly transform him into an alien, Wikus becomes a fugitive and helps the aliens escape the planet and perhaps save his humanity.

District 9 Review : Movie Feuds ep9

In episode #9, Adam and Cory debate District 9 (ooh, fun coincidence). What was meant to be an adaptation of the video game mega-franchise, Halo, District 9 tells the story of an alien village built among the slums of Johannesburg, South Africa. While cat-food-eating aliens are a new take on this genre, District 9 goes deeper than your typical sci-fi movie. With added elements of action, horror, brief comedy and a healthy dose of symbolism, this is a film that has something for everyone. Is it enough to be included among the all-time best sci-fi flicks? You decide this week on Movie Feuds. Check out Movie Feuds on Facebook: www.facebook.com Or on Twitter: www.twitter.com And for more episodes: www.moviefeuds.com
