Seven Fokker Dr.1 Triplanes of Jasta 11
The very rare sight of seven full-size WW1 Fokker Dr.1 Triplanes replicas in the air together. Each of these aircraft is painted to represent one of the aircraft/pilots that flew as part of Manfred von Richthofen's Jasta 11 in April 1918. 3 Flyzone Albatros DVa ultra micros have been assembled to fly together as a formation. The fuselages are faithful to the known Jasta 18 colours of Von Raben the CO, and of Monnington. The third is a kind of "What If" colour scheme, based on how the plane may have looked if Paul Baumer had ever flown in the squadron - he always sported an Eidelweiss emblem. Since nobody knows what paint scheme appeared on the top or bottom of the wings of this squadron, any colour scheme is speculative - even the one provided with the stock model. That made it easy to create 3 plausible variations for the wings and elevators, making it easier for 3 RC pilots to tell which model they are controlling when they are all flying close together. The spinners of the squadron should all be white but 2 of these models are not, and for the same reason - it would be near impossible to tell the airframes apart if they were all flying head on toward the 3 pilots at the same time, unless the spinners were different colours.
