The Digital Aeronautical Information Management (D-AIM) project is a joint EUROCONTROL and LFV project aiming to create a test-bed for one of the foundations of future ATM - information sharing. Jeppesen and LFV performed successful flight trials at Stockholm-Arlanda airport and around Stockholm TMA as part of the D-AIM trials. The trials focused on NOTAM over data link, graphically depicted to the pilot on the Electronic Flight Bag with moving map functionality and containing eg Aerodrome Mapping Database, NavDB.

At the National Business Aviation Associations 62nd Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2009), exhibitors displayed the latest in aviation technology. Aero-TV took the opportunity to speak with President and CEO of Jeppesen, Mark Van Tine, about whats on the horizon for the company and the future of paperless flight bags. Just days before the start of NBAA2009, Jeppesen announced two significant advancements for their electronic chart services. Forming a new partnership, Jeppesen and Satcom Direct will now allow each company to sell a bundled solution to customers, combining Jeppesens JetPlan flight planning service and Satcom Directs FlightDeck Freedom TM cockpit communications services. The newly available dual service will provide a one-stop solution for mutual customers by enhancing efficiency and providing economic benefits for Business Aviation operators. In addition, Jeppesen announced that it had received an AC20-148 Reusable Software Component (RSC) acceptance letter from the Federal Aviation Administration; only the second letter to be issued by the FAA, the RSC pre-certifies a software component thus eliminating the need to re-certify internal elements of the component each time it is implemented onto a system. The acceptance will greatly reduce overall certification requirements allowing Jeppesen electronics charts to be quickly and efficiently integrated with onboard aviation navigation systems.
