John Wayne - Davy Crockett's Speech (The Alamo/USA 1960)

"Davy Crockett's Speech" The Alamo (USA 1960) Directed by John Wayne Soundtrack by Dimitri Tiomkin John Wayne as Colonel Davy Crockett "Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat - the same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first step or his first baby shaves and makes his first sound as a man. Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words." The Alamo (1960) is an American War film released by United Artists, starring John Wayne as Davy Crockett, Richard Widmark as Jim Bowie and Laurence Harvey as William B. Travis, and featuring Frankie Avalon, Chill Wills, Patrick Wayne, Linda Cristal, Joseph Calleia, Ruben Padilla, Richard Boone, Ken Curtis, Hank Worden, and Denver Pyle. John Wayne "AMERICA: WHY I LOVE HER" Music Video LYRICS

Here is a special music video I made of John Wayne, at his patriotic best, doing "AMERICA: WHY I LOVE HER", in his own unforgettable style. Who can say it any better than this? AMERICA: WHY I LOVE HER By John Mitchum Performed by John Wayne You ask me why I love her? Well, give me time, and I'll explain... Have you seen a Kansas sunset or an Arizona rain? Have you drifted on a bayou down Louisiana way? Have you watched the cold fog drifting over San Francisco Bay? Have you heard a Bobwhite calling in the Carolina pines? Or heard the bellow of a diesel in the Appalachia mines? Does the call of Niagara thrill you when you hear her waters roar? Do you look with awe and wonder at a Massachusetts shore... Where men who braved a hard new world, first stepped on Plymouth Rock? And do you think of them when you stroll along a New York City dock? Have you seen a snowflake drifting in the Rockies...way up high? Have you seen the sun come blazing down from a bright Nevada sky? Do you hail to the Columbia as she rushes to the sea... Or bow your head at Gettysburg...in our struggle to be free? Have you seen the mighty Tetons? ...Have you watched an eagle soar? Have you seen the Mississippi roll along Missouri's shore? Have you felt a chill at Michigan, when on a winters day, Her waters rage along the shore in a thunderous display? Does the word "Aloha"... make you warm? Do you stare in disbelief When you see the surf come roaring in at Waimea reef? From Alaska's gold to the Everglades ...

John Wayne on liberals

Audio from TonyMacklin.net, 1975 "You're being conned into keynesianism and socialism now..." "I have had the chance to be with guys who are with things and against things, and you know, christ, you try as I try, as a human being, to listen to both sides of everything. But there's no both sides anymore. They're just trying to wreck our goddamn country." "I'm quite sure that the concept of a Government-run reservation... seems to be what the socialists are working for now — to have everyone cared for from cradle to grave.... But you can't whine and bellyache 'cause somebody else got a break and you didn't, like those Indians are. We'll all be on a reservation soon if the socialists keep subsidizing groups like them with our tax money." "I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them." "But I'm telling you, goddam it, everything's mixed up now. I got a letter from that fellow who runs the Motion Picture Association. Jack Valenti. He wanted my opinion on the new rating system. I didn't even answer because - well, my answer would be there shouldn't be any need for such a thing in our industry." "All the real motion picture people have always made family pictures. But the downbeats and the so-called intelligentsia got in when the government stupidly split up the production companies and the theaters. The old giants--Mayer, Thalberg, even Harry Cohn, despite the fact that personally ...

Angel and the Badman: John Wayne, Gail Russell, Harry Carey, Bruce Cabot (1947 Movie)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Angel and the Badman is a 1947 black-and-white Western film, starring John Wayne, Gail Russell, Harry Carey and Bruce Cabot which examines the ability of a shootist to renounce violence. This film, which was the first one Wayne produced as well as starred in, was a radical departure for this genre at the time it was released. The film was directed by Wayne's frequent screenwriter James Edward Grant. The notorious shootist and womanizer Quirt Evans' (John Wayne) horse collapses as he passes a Quaker family's home. Quirt has been wounded and the kindly family takes him in and nurses him back to health against the advice of others. The handsome Evans quickly attracts the affections of their beautiful but sheltered daughter, Penelope (Gail Russell). He develops an affection for the family but his troubled past follows him there, both outlaws and the law. Evans falls for Penelope and begins to assimilate her pacifist lifestyle. However, the tug of his old ways is very strong and so he vacillates back and forth. He is finally forced to examine his character after his violent actions bring harm to an innocent person. This movie is the point of departure for two other successful "fish out of water" movies, the 1985 Witness starring Harrison Ford and the 2003 The Outsider starring Tim Daly and Naomi Watts, both of which have a similar story line.
