The Murder of Julius Caesar

Taken from the HBO's movie "Rome", i think this clip best shows the violence and the anger linked to what is still considered the most tremendous murder of all times. The latin words are taken from "De Vita Caesarum" (The Lives of the Caesars), written by Suetonius in 110 AD. Here is the whole extract: LXXXII. [44 BC] As he took his seat, the conspirators gathered about him as if to pay their respects, and straightway Tillius Cimber, who had assumed the lead, came nearer as though to ask something; and when Caesar with a gesture put him off to another time, Cimber caught his toga by both shoulders; then as Caesar cried, "Why, this is violence!" one of the Cascas stabbed him from one side just below the throat. Caesar caught Casca's arm and ran it through with his stylus, but as he tried to leap to his feet, he was stopped by another wound. When he saw that he was beset on every side by drawn daggers, he muffled his head in his robe, and at the same time drew down its lap to his feet with his left hand, in order to fall more decently, with the lower part of his body also covered. And in this wise he was stabbed with three and twenty wounds, uttering not a word, but merely a groan at the first stroke, though some have written that when Marcus Brutus rushed at him, he said in Greek, 'You too, my child?" All the conspirators made off, and he lay there lifeless for some time, until finally three common slaves put him on a litter and carried him home, with one arm hanging down ...

A project I chose to do for school. A Re-enactment of Julius Caesar, in Austin and Geoffrey's own version. Obviously, there are many changes compared to the original. There were alot of circumstances that I had to work with... The biggest being Time, amount of people available, and the availability of voices. Many thanks to those who worked with me. It was fun, and would want to do it again sometime. Fanvid for the 1979 BBC adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, set to "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga (I think I am going to hell for this). The Face of Julius Caesar (Photoshop Reconstruction)

Music "Garden in the Colosseum" now available on ITunes! itunes.apple.com The first to print his own bust on a minted coin, Gaius Julius Caesar (July 13, 100BC - March 15, 44BC) was one of the most unrivaled leaders of the Roman world in military, political, strategic, business, and dictatorial arenas. He had built Rome up to some of its greatest heights, and after his assassination, Rome never completely recovered its former glory. Equally famous for his union with the illustrious Cleopatra (whom he never married because Roman law only recognized marriages between Roman people), Caesar was universally described to have a deeply creased face (he was 55 at the time of his death), a markedly saggy neck, deep set & keen dark eyes and a receding hairline which he brushed forward and often adorned with a leaf crown to distract from the fact that he was balding. There are some accounts of him having a somewhat full face, but that may have been earlier in his lifetime, since later depictions of him seem to show somewhat hollow cheeks instead. #Caesar was officially sanctified as a Roman deity by the Senate 2 years after his assassination. #Caesar's father, Gaius Julius Caesar, died suddenly while putting on his shoes one morning. Caesar was sixteen at the time.

Julius Caesar: Marc Antony Dogs of War Monologue (Character animation)

from the William Shakespeare play Julius Caesar, Animated by Myself. voice by Marlon Brando, Act 3 scene 1: O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth, That I am meek and gentle with these butchers! Thou art the ruins of the noblest man That ever lived in the tide of times. Woe to the hand that shed this costly blood! Over thy wounds now do I prophesy, --- Which, like dumb mouths, do ope their ruby lips, To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue --- A curse shall light upon the limbs of men; Domestic fury and fierce civil strife Shall cumber all the parts of Italy; Blood and destruction shall be so in use And dreadful objects so familiar That mothers shall but smile when they behold Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war; All pity choked with custom of fell deeds: And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge, With Ate by his side come hot from hell, Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war; That this foul deed shall smell above the earth With carrion men, groaning for burial.
