KTVU California Open Carry

KTVU sat down and did an interview with me for about an hour and then followed me to a meet-up of other Bay Area open carriers. Much was left out of the final piece and one part taken a bit out of context, but on the whole it was neutral. I'm surprised that they did as much research on the topic. They explained about %80 of the "gotchas" we have in California. I made references to case laws and mentioned that most of us would prefer Concealed Carry but I guess that was taken out in the interest of time. Checkout www.opencarryradio.com for more information on open carrying in California.

KTVU comes back on-air after 1989 earthquake

October 17, 1989- "The Great Quake of '89", or Loma Prieta as it's called historically. This was recorded in Davis, about 75 miles away- we felt the quake over there. The San Francisco TV stations got knocked off the air when it happened, but I caught KTVU channel 2 coming back on with color bars and recorded this on space left at the end of a tape- my parents' house has a roof antenna with a rotor so I was able to get the bay area stations in pretty well most of the time. (I haven't had a chance to play with it since the digital thing happened; they usually keep it aimed at Sacramento and nothing else gets picked up when scanning the digital tuner.) Power was out in the station's main building so they're outside using the remote truck. Someone had already been out in the helicopter shooting video so they play some of that here. (And look- not a single pixel's worth of onscreen graphics or text!!) The noisy sound is a problem at the station, they mention this at one point. The outline of KCRA channel 3 is visible on here- that seemed to be a problem only on channel 2, and I guess most areas didn't have stations on both channels 2 and 3 so this problem wasn't commonly seen (the outline would get worse as channel 2's signal weakened from where we were.)

KTVU Growing Evidence That Cell Phones Create Tumors

www.ktvu.com LAFAYETTE, Calif. -- Lafayette Real Estate Broker Alan Marks, 57, had a grand mal seizure last year after 20-years of intense cell phone use. At the time, he estimated a cell phone up to his head for at least 10000 hours over those 20 years. One prominent doctor went on record that Marks' cell phone use likely caused his golf ball-sized, malignant brain tumor, called an oligodendro glioma, which is adjacent to where he held his cell phone. Surgeons removed as much cancer as they could, but now give him 5, maybe 8 years to live. It's painful, said Ellie Marks, Alan's wife. It's horribly painful, yet I want people to know that this is for real. About 90 percent of people in the Bay Area press cell phones regularly to their heads. Some scientists say evidence of long term harm from such intense use is growing. We discovered that cell phone radiation does damage DNA, said Prof. Henry Lee, a Univ. of Washington researcher. Berkeley researcher Lloyd Morgan says telecommunications industry studies are biased and flawed. Other studies suggest a cell phone cancer epidemic. There is going to be hundreds of millions of people potentially getting brain tumors caused by cell phones across this planet, said Morgan. The FDA and the American Cancer Society disagree, saying there's no clear proof of significant risk. Still, consumers are becoming cautious. These (cell phones) are relatively new, said Larry Blackwell of Alameda. We don't know for sure, and there's probably a ...
