WW2 - Chiang Kai Shek

Chiang Kai Shek The death of Sun Yat Sen in March 1925 brought Chiang Kai Shek to prominence in China, and by 1928, after a series of bloody internal conflicts, Chiang Kai Shek became the effective dictator of China. Chiang's position was never completely secure. Throughout the war he was forced to divert large amounts of American aid to bolstering his power base and fighting the communists. The end of the War brought a resumption of the internal conflicts in China, and by 1950 Chiang and his supporters had been driven from the Chinese mainland onto the island of Formosa. en.wikipedia.org

Chiang Kai-shek Lookalike a Hit in Taiwan

Tourists in Taiwan might think they've seen former leader Chiang Kai-shek come back from the afterlife. One tour guide has at least some people convinced—thanks to his striking resemblance to China's old Nationalist Party leader. Mainland Chinese tourists are scrambling to take photographs of Chiang Kai-shek—Taiwan's deceased Nationalist leader. This man, an impersonator of course, is actually Chiang's son's former bodyguard. Now a tour guide, Lee Teng-ko is bringing history back to life with his striking resemblance. After losing China to the Communists in 1949, Nationalist Party leader Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan. Since then the Chinese regime has made the controversial claim that the island belongs to it—and is not a separate country. But conflicting opinion aside, 80-year-old Lee is now standing at the frontline of Taiwan's tourism and is a popular hit—even with mainland tourists. Lee is giving tours of Chiang family's mausoleum and former residence. But most of the time he poses for tourists. [Miss Chen, Shanghai Tourist]: "I thought Mr. Chiang is no longer around but I see that he's here again. I was surprised. I was caught unprepared. He looks very much like Mr. Chiang, with the same kindness." [Chueng Siu-wah, Hong Kong Tourist]: "In Hong Kong, people are not interested in politics, but of course seeing Chiang Kai-shek here, I feel very honored to have a photograph taken with him." Lee was born in Taiwan. He moved to China as a child and eventually enlisted in ...

Guards Shift Change Ceremony at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall 国立中正纪念堂交接

shot this video in my trip to Taiwan recently. very impressive indeed... salute! I only know of 3 places you can see this kind of hourly ceremony in Taipei... Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall (in this video I have captured), Dr Yun Yat Sen Memorial Hall and Martyr's Shrine. The guards at Martyr's Shrine have to march from the entrance arch all the way until just right outside the shrine (slightly longer than a football field).

Mauser Chiang Kai Shek China 8 x 57

My Chinese Mauser "Chiang Kai Shek" Model Short Rifle. It is marked with a reversed Swastika, Chinese ideographs, a bow and arrow inside of a gear and what looks like the number 41 on top of the receiver. The rear sight assembly is also stamped with a reversed Swastika. The Chiang Kai Shek Model Short Rifle is a copy of the German Standard Modell Short Rifle. State arsenals in China made several million copies of the Mauser Standard Modell Short Rifle during the period from November 1936 to 1949, with this weapon becoming standard issue for Chinese troops. Manufacturing quality ranged from the very good to the very crude, with little attention paid to the bedding of the action or the barrel, and very minimal standards of finish. Any more information will be greatly appreciated.

KMT from Chiang's Anti-Communist Era to "China Friendly Ma"

To most elderly Taiwanese people, Chiang Kai-Shek led the Nationalist Chinese in their fight against the Japanese, but later lost control to the Communist Party during the Civil war. He was seen as a dictator during the post–war period when he moved the capital from Chongqing to Taipei for the supposed pursuit of freedom and democracy. During his remaining lifetime in Taiwan, he never gave up his dream of re-claiming the motherland. His son Chiang Ching-Kuo, later became his successor in the KMT's rule of Taiwan; however, he has a totally different image to his father, he was a more people-friendly president. If he would be alive today he would be 100. The Centenary of Chiang Ching Kuo, the son of Chiang Kai-Shek is held here at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen memorial hall here in Taipei. Chiang Ching-kuo dedicated 40 years of his life to the country's development. He accelerated the democratic process by abolishing the curfew, lifting the ban on opposition political parties and granting press freedom. One of his acts, most appreciated by the people was that he allowed them to visit their relatives in Mainland China. One of the important events of the Centenary Celebration was the opening of the Back Cihu by President Ma Ying-Jeou. This was a military restricted area for many years, yet now, has been transformed into a memorial park for the two Chiangs. Beside the crescent-shaped lake, there is a path leading to a tunnel, which once served as an air-raid evacuation route. The ...

The Long March - Part 2 (1 of 4)

The Long March is a two part documentary showing Chiang Kai Shek's coward actions during World War II. Japan was invading China and Chiang Kai Shek uses all Nationalist troops and resources to attack the Red Army instead. Chiang Kai Shek also ordered all troops to retreat from Nanking as the Japanese closed in, causing many innocent lives to be lost. Im not a communist but I support and take great joy watching Chairman Mao Zedong kick this arsehole hard in the balls so many times throughout this documentary! Enjoy!
