Karen Kibuchi is the mother of a child with multiple disabilities. She voices her daughter, Daniellas story. Daniella was born with Cornelia De Lange syndrome. She has been turned away from schools, and is stared at when she is out with her family. She doesn't let this get her down though. Daniella, enjoys time with her family and plays with other children when she gets the chance. She has outlived the life expectancy predicted by doctors with the care and love of her family. Karen is an activist, who promotes the rights of children with disabilities and their families; and leads a parent support group. This story was made at a 5-day workshop in 2009 organised by the African Decade of Persons with Disabilities, in association with WomensNet and the Association for Progressive Communications.

How Al Shaabab militants are smuggling arms into Kenya

Grenade explosion injures fourteen in downtown Nairobi


ww.ntv.co.ke Fourteen people have been reported injured after unknown individuals lobbed a grenade into a bar located in downtown Nairobi early Monday.The bar located along Mfangano Lane has been sealed off by anti-terror police with initial reports pointing attributing the attack to the Al Shabaab militia.Nairobi PPO Anthony Kibuchi has appealed to city residents to be extra vigilant in the wake of the attack and has further urged Kenyans to cooperate law enforcement agencies in exposing possible Al Shabaab insurgents in our midst.

Grenade explosion rocks Nairobi pub

The attack occurred at Mwaura's Pub along Mfangano Lane at around 2a.m.As at mid-day eleven of the injured have been discharged, while the rest have been admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital after sustaining serious injuries caused by shrapnel.No one has been arrested yet in relation to the attack and the motive still remains unclear.Fourteen people were injured early this morning following a grenade attack in Nairobi's downtown. Police assure Kenyans in the wake of latest grenade attack


www.ntv.co.ke Speaking at the scene of Sunday's grenade attack in Ngara, senior police officers gave one more assurance that the country was still secure despite the growing number of attacks. The Nairobi Provincial Police Officer Anthony Kibuchi and CID director Ndegwa Muhoro spoke as they visited the scene shortly after the blast.

Army pilot's family mourns

Tougher Traffic Rules


The construction of the Thika Superhighway has been hailed in many quarters as a turning point in the country's quest to achieve vision 2030. The multiple lane highways will help ease traffic jams and speed up the flow of goods and services. But there have been concerns raised about how motorists will use the road. The traffic department and the Kenya National Highways Authority held a public safety campaign involving motorists and other road users in a bid to ease the confusion that came with the superhighway. Deputy Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru and Nairobi Provincial Police officer Anthony Kibuchi also announced a new law that will see any motorist without a life saver serve up to 6 months in jail if found guilty. One person killed in second grenade attack In Nairobi


ww.ntv.co.ke One person has been reported killed after a grenade exploded along Racecourse Road near the old OTC bus stage. Eighteen other people were injured eight of them seriously.This was the second grenade attack in Nairobi in less than 24 hours after another attack in a downtown pub in the city early Monday morning which left 13 people injured. Initial reports indicate the grenade was hurled from a moving vehicle.

Police officer who was shot is still alive


www.ntv.co.ke Police in Nairobi now say they got it all wrong when they said one of their own had died from gunshot wounds sustained in the Friday demo. police say they had not got the full information when they broke the news of the supposed death. Nairobi PPO Anthony Kibuchi visited the officer earlier today and found him alive and recovering.
