This is footage from my first A-rated show. I was showing Timmy, a 17 hand Irish Sport Horse gelding who belongs to my trainer-away-from-home, Earl Jodon, in the State College Series at Kocher's. Timmy was definitely testing me, and you can see that he did think about refusing a few times! When I'm in the green polo shirt, there's footage of me in two classes: Level 2 Schooling Jumpers and Low Adult Jumpers (also at Level 2). You can see on the first jump of the Schooling Jumpers that he attempted a sliding stop, but we made it through! On Jump 3 of that run, pause it when we're in mid-air--sheesh Timmy, what are you doing?! Please note that he did a funky leap, his head's thrown in the air, but there is slack in the reins--it was NOT my doing! On Jump 5 of our second run, Timmy did his classic deer leap--he got close to the base, thus he had to do his big head swing to get himself up and over. On Jump 6 of the second run (both classes had the same course), he almost managed to stop; I made a great rookie mistake and looked at the jump as I tapped him with the crop, and when he popped over for me, I got myself a free neck and back adjustment! My helmet got plunked forward, and the brim was completely obscuring my vision for the approach to Jump 7. I slo-moed it so you can see me kind of smack myself in the face to quickly adjust it. It got the job done, what can I say? :) For my first A-rated show, my first time showing Level 2 (with fences up to 3'3" with 3'6" spreads ...
