Aspart of a greater movement with no real center or name, the Common Ground Youth Coalition is interviewing leading young change-makers to create a snapshot of what young people are doing for their generation nationally, and globally. The goal is to showcase young people from all walks of life who have been successful at making a change in the world, in any sector - public, private, political, religious, social, cultural, non-profit, etc. We hope that our collective work can demonstrate how youth can solve today's issues, work across traditional boundaries, and inspire others to do the same. Matthew founded MESS Express in 2008 as a junior at Cornell University after recognizing the lack of safe, convenient, and accessible transportation options for students in Ithaca. Over the past two years, Matthew has been on a passionate journey to make safe transportation ubiquitous on college campuses nationwide. Along the way he has served on the board of STOP-DWI in Tompkins County, attended the StartingBloc Institute for Social Innovation, and became an Unreasonable Institute Fellow. Matthew is a proud product of the Entrepreneurship@Cornell program and a huge advocate of student entrepreneurship in general. For fun, he plays lots of golf and goes to see live music (ie Phish and MGMT).
