BK-1 MINUTE SPIT-NO MORE QUESTIONS (IT GETS BETTER-LGBT YOUTH SUICIDES)

LGBT suicides have been increasing over the last few years. From depression to bullying, isolation and rejection, teens are ending their lives believing who they are isn't normal or worthy of love. We need to make an effort as people to protect our youth NOW. Teach your children to love ALL. See BK take on this issue over a Heat Up Productions instrumental in this week's episode of the 1 Minute Spit. Lyrics below: Be proud you're gay You finally embraced what God gave That was decided on the day he spent creating your face You be a soldier Just keep your composure and be yourself Who you are is beautiful and it's important to your mental health Forget society, forget the magazines Forget the families too scared to show their children how to dream Forget the bullies, the media, forget the obsolete Forget the teens whose self-esteem is self destructive and diseased You keep on smiling The part of you that's really shining A knowledge bigger than the sparkle off a lot of diamonds You keep on trying I'm standing right beside you fighting We like some titans showing tyrants that we really giants We breathing steady, just try us we armed and ready They keep forgetting who we are but we embark on raising bars and upping antes Become the people we're supposed to be and can be The last ones laughing Lift your head up it's ok to cry those tears But don't you ever let them get you wishing you weren't here Pick your head up it's not time to say goodbye You're beautiful inside Not ...

Lady Gaga Meeting Obama Over Gay Suicides

on.fb.me - Facebook Fan Page! bit.ly - Click to Subscribe to ClevverMusic! Hi guys, you're watching ClevverMusic. I'm your host Bridget Daly reporting from Hollywood. Well it looks like Lady Gaga and President Obama may be meeting up together. According to MTV, Gaga called the pres after hearing the news about a teen suicide that was a result of bullying. 14 year old Jamey Rodemeyer, who had posted his own It Gets Better video back in May, took his own life last weekend after years of bullying over his sexuality. In the vid, he talked about Gaga. So sad. Gaga tweeted, "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life." Her next step? Hopefully meeting with Obama. Gaga wants a law to be put in place based on what happened to Jamey and the other countless kids who have taken their lives. No word on whether a meeting has been set up yet or not, but we'll keep you posted, so subscribe to CLevverMusic for more details. Also leave your comments below on this tragic news. Thanks for watching.

Gay Youth Suicides & Anti-Gay Bullying Are REAL!

As many as five suicides of young gay men have occurred over the past few weeks due to anti-gay bullying, harassment and outing them as gay. This is a message to inform you of the harms of anti-gay harassment. Johnson and Wales student Raymond Chase, 19, took his own life this past Wednesday, according to the Advocate. Chase, a sophomore reported as openly gay, apparently hanged himself in his dorm room. According to Now Public, the circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known. This weekend, Rutgers University honored the life of freshman Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide last week. Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge sometime after Sept. 22 after he discovered that his roommate, Dharun Ravi, had broadcast a sexual encounter that he had without his knowledge. Ravi and another Rutgers freshman, Molly Wei, are facing invasion of privacy charges. People -- gay, straight, young, old -- came together from all over New Jersey to meditate on a life gone too soon. 7261 middle and high school students found that at school nearly 9 out of 10 LGBT students experienced harassment at school in the past year and nearly two-thirds felt unsafe because of their sexual orientation. Nearly a third of LGBT students skipped at least one day of school in the past month because of safety concerns. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TO MAKE THIS STOP?

Bullying Suicides Result of Bad Parenting?

via Huffington Post "As The Tennessean is reporting, State Rep. Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby) spoke up against a proposed cyberbullying bill, and may have been alluding to the recent suicides by Phillip Parker and Jacob Rogers, both of whom had allegedly complained of being bullied over their sexual orientation in the state. "We can't continue to legislate everything," he said in his speech. "We've had some horrible things happen in America and in our state, and there's children that have actually committed suicide, but I will submit to you today that they did not commit suicide because of somebody bullying them. They committed suicide because they were not instilled the proper principles of where their self-esteem came from at home." Faison continued, "Now, instead of sending children to the principal's audience, we're sending them to the criminal court...there's people in this room right here who, at one time in their life, were a bully. But you didn't grow up to be a bad person." Madonna: 'I wouldn't have a career if it weren't for the Gay community'

In response to the abundance of recent gay teen suicides that have been linked to bullying, many celebrities have taken the initiative to make their voices heard. Madonna joined the pack on Nov. 9, 2010, when she appears on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" with a special message. "I wouldn't have a career if it weren't for the gay community," says Madonna, via a satellite interview with Ellen. "I feel like it would be incredibly remiss of me to not say something." In her "Ellen" interview aired on Nov. 9, 2010, Madonna reveals her own personal struggles as a teen, and discloses that she, too, felt alienated in high school. "There was no group that I felt apart of -- I just felt like a weirdo," the singer admits. She also attributes the support of her homosexual ballet teacher to making her feel more comfortable in her own skin as a teen. "Everyone should have someone in their life that they can feel encouragement from," Madonna adds. In response to the rash of gay teen suicides in the news this year, artists from all over the musical spectrum have taken a stand against homosexual bullying. Most have been offering their words of encouragement through the "It Gets Better," a project designed specifically to console struggling LGBT teens.

It Gets Better-Song by Maggie

The first time I saw the google chrome commercial for the "It gets better" project, I was so moved I knew I wanted to contribute in some way. I know what it feels like to be alone and in those times all I needed was for someone to tell me it was going to be okay. When I heard of all the LGBT suicides, all I wanted was to tell kids that there are other options and that even in your darkest days life is still worth living. I hope that all of you who are struggling realize that there is happiness out there, life is a beautiful thing and that you will find peace eventually. I am going to try to put up a better quality video with a recording soon! Don't Worry Don't Fret Don't Believe A word they said You are Perfect The way you are Please Don't change Because it's all to hard Their words hurt In every way They hit you hard Cause all this pain I see you stand so strong Everyday Don't let go Keep your strength There's so much more to life than you feel right now Even though it seems dark you'll find your way out There's a world out there waiting for you, Give it one more chance You'll see it all soon, Make it through the rough weather And you'll see, It gets better You're not alone I'm always here I'll listen And wipe away all your tears And for you Happiness seems gone But it's still there It'll come back along There are songs to be sung And art to be made Laughs to be heard Chances to take So let life Show you its best Look forward And put it to the test There's so much more ...

LGBT Youth Suicide - In Memoriam

Update: Sadly, several more teenagers have committed suicide after this video was created. Let us work to stop the suicides and abuse and let victims of bullying know there is help and it gets better! Thousands of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) youth are targeted by bullies on a daily basis. This repeated ridicule can lead to depression, self-hatred, and even suicide. Do your part to stop anti-LGBT bullying in schools. Help prevent further suicide and murder of our children.

LGBT White House Champions of Change - JJ Kahle

JJ Kahle says her students are her heroes. Indeed, each has his or her own unique story of challenge and courage. These students would say that JJ is a hero, too. Long before the tragedies of nine Minnesota teen suicides between 2009-12, in Anoka-Hennepin county, JJ was working to create a safe environment for LGBTQ youth at The Blake School in Minneapolis. Over the course of 12 years, her tireless advocacy and leadership of the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) has helped transform Blake's environment into one where being homophobic is "uncool". Students are not only out, they speak out- straight ones, too. With so much tragedy and heartache in the news around teen suicides this past year, many of whom were gay or perceived to be gay, it feels good to turn the spotlight towards the good that can happen when a school and teacher are committed to empowering ALL students. A Date Aside - Bullying & Suicide Short Film

A Date Aside is a film that addresses the increasing phenomenon known as "Bullycide", suicide as a result of bullying. Statistically, about 30% of all completed suicides have been related to sexual identity crisis. This film wishes to bring an awareness of the horrific increasing number of suicides, not only to the LGBT community but to all those affected by suicide as a result of bullying. The rise of bullying statistics is due to a new form of bullying known as cyber-bullying. Unfortunately, physical assaults have been replaced with constant cyber assaults in the form of bashing, rumors, and other hazing (www.bullyingstatistics.org). The film makers also wish to praise many organizations created to fight bullycide www.bravesociety.org www.itgetsbetter.org www.thetrevorproject.org www.no-shame.org If you are faced with bullying, please know there are many organizations to assist you. Please take advantage and remember you are not alone. Note to ALL parents, become aware, get involved, take advantage of the tools offered by organizations such as Lisa Ford Berry's, "BRAVE", www.bravesociety.org. Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge from a perspective no one wishes to experience, she is a victim herself suffering the loss of her son Michael.
