In the face of the wholesale destruction of their homeland, young Germans were motivated to destroy American bombers by any means necessary. On 7th April 1945 a volunteer unit, called the Sonderkommando ELBE, took to the sky with one goal in mind and that was to use their own aircraft as battering rams to destroy American bombers. Rare interviews with the German pilots who mounted these attacks offer an unprecedented view into the mindset of these ram-pilots.

Various Gun Cam footage from World War 2 period of 190's and 110's in action. I added some cool music and photos to give the video more depth and meaning. May we never forget all the pilots that fought and died on all sides. In no way do I support the Nazi cause, Facism, Socialism or any other perverse form of government or rule. I just simply take great interest in military aviation, especially military aviation history of the ww2 era. Please do not argue or flame others in the comments. Keep your comments relevant to the topic on hand. I delete and ban all comments and users who engage in arguing.

Between the summer of 1940 and the end of 1942, Malta became one of the most bombed places on earth. Fliegerkorps X was an experienced anti-shipping unit that had fought in Norway and Denmark. 200 bombers and sixty-six fighters were pitted against the beleaguered Maltese defenders. The RAF and Royal Navy's desperate fight to retain control of the diminutive Mediterranean island, and the defiant courage of the people of Malta, is one of the epic stories of World War Two. January 1, 1945, The German Luftwaffe launches Operation Bodenplatte, a last desperate attempt to break loose the Ardennes Offensive that had been halted at Bastogne. Approximately 800 German fighters are sent to attack 15 allied forward air bases. At some bases the Luftwaffe attack is devastating, destroying aircraft and rendering airstrips useless. At other fields only a few fighters found their targets and damage was minimal. But at Asch the result was unlike anything the Luftwaffe had imagined. The attack on the Asch airbase, known as Y-29, was a total disaster. When the 11th Jagdgeschwader reached Y-29 they found 8 Thunderbolts of the 390th Fighter Squad, 366 Fighter Group circling the field and 12 Mustangs of the 487th Fighter Squad, 352nd Fighter Group just taking off. The ensuing battle came to be know as the "Legend of Y-29". This battle was only one of many battles that took place on new years day 1945. But in no other battle did one unit distinguish itself so well from such a disadvantage. For their courage and performance in the face of overwhelming odds, the 487th earned the only Distinguished Unit Citation given to a fighter squadron in the Northwestern European Theater of Operation.

Amazing footage of Ju-87 Stuka dive bombers from a German film during WWII. Hans Ulrich Rudel is featured in this film. **if you guys have nothing better to do than to argue about wars in history's past then please do not comment.** I uploaded this video purely for educational purposes, to learn about history, not to glorify war. DO NOT argue whether one country/plane/person was better than the other in the comments.

aerocinema.com Of all Germany's aces, few can boast of belonging in the same class as the legendary Adolf Galland. His more than 100 victories against Western opponents are a testament to his bravery and skill as a pilot. In the early 1990's, Galland invited a camera crew into his home to discuss his personal recollections of the war. In part I of this never before seen interview, Galland gives us an expert analysis of the Battle of Britain from inside his Me 109 cockpit. A General by the age of 29, Galland also describes his meteoric rise to the top of the Luftwaffe and his sometimes hostile relationship with Herman Goring. See how the Stealth bomber was influenced by top-secret plans for a plane designed to drop a nuclear bomb on America. During World War II, German engineers and scientists helped create the most technologically advanced air force the world had ever seen. But even more incredible were the planes they didn't have time to build. SECRET LUFTWAFFE AIRCRAFT OF WWII makes a strong case that, had the war lasted much longer, Nazi aviation breakthroughs might have led to a different outcome. See captured, formerly top-secret plans for jet fighters, vertical take off and landing craft, swept-wing planes and much more. But most shocking of all was the Horton 18--a long-range bomber intended to drop a nuclear device on America. The decades-old plans for the Horton were invaluable in the development of the American Stealth aircraft! Filled with expert interviews, archival footage and computer creations of these groundbreaking planes in flight, this is a fascinating look at some of the most innovative weapons of all time, the SECRET LUFTWAFFE AIRCRAFT OF WWII.

The Wachbataillon (full name: Wachbataillon beim Bundesministerium der Verteidigung (Guard battalion at the Ministry of Defence)) is the German Bundeswehr's elite drill unit. The Wachbataillon is the largest battalion of the German forces with about 1800 soldiers, split in two garrisons in Berlin and Siegburg. It consists of nine companies and belongs to the Streitkräftebasis (Joint Service Support Command) of the Bundeswehr. The soldiers of the Wachbataillon often refer to themselves as Protter or Protokollsoldaten, meaning protocol soldiers.
