Zombie Shoot 2008 at Langhorne Rod and Gun Club
Zombie shoot at Langhorne Rod and Gun club. This was a safe and fun filled day. Over 80 shooters showed up to help rescue Bucks County from the Zombie horde. There were challenges for advanced shooters and novices like me were coached thru stages with gun safety as the focus. We worked individually, in teams an relays to destroy the zombies. I was impressed to see the precision shooters hit 1/2 inch paint ball targets at 200 m. There were rifle, pistol and archery archery challenges and a yummy lunch for all participants. Dick Eagan, driving in relief of Hully Bunn, is declared the winner after a crash halts the race after 83 laps. Dantre Langhorne of Greenport High School, NY (2011) was brought up to the varsity as an 8th grader and immediately became a key player on a team that advanced to 3 consecutive New York State Final Fours. As a sophomore, his team made it to the state championship game as he averaged 15 pts, 5.4 rebs, and 4 assists over the course of the season, and he scored 28 points in the semifinal game. He recorded his first career triple-double as a soph. This incredible sophomore season also included a game where he scored 25 against Archbishop Molloy (NYC) and Russ Smith (now at Louisville). He received 2nd Team All-State honors as a 10th grader. As a junior, he finished 3rd in the county in scoring at 21.4 points, also compiling 7.8 rebs, and 5 assists per. He was elected 1st Team All-State. Langhorne, now a senior, is one of Newsday (NY)'s Top 10 Players to Watch, is playing point guard for his team, and early in the season is AVERAGING a triple-double. Langhorne 1955 - Johnny Thomson crash
Johnny Thomson hits Jerry Hoyt's stricken car during Langhorne 100 mile IndyCar race, 19th May 1955. Thomson suffered a broken collarbone. Hoyt was killed less then two months after this during a sprint car race in Oklahoma City. Thomson was also killed during a sprint car race in Allentown in 1960.
