This video was taken at the Code Pink/Marine Corps protest in Berkeley on February 12, 2008. It is part of a larger report to be found at www.zombietime.com Sometimes the "discussion" between the two sides descended into macho posturing. In this video, an anti-Marines activist wearing a blue hat seems to have overdosed on testosterone, and repeatedly confronts Marines supporters with seemingly no other intention other than to pick a fight. Three former Marines take him up on his challenge, one after the other, but luckily fisticuffs never actually break out. Toward the end of the video, a high school student yells at the disputants, but one of the former Marines says something everyone there heartily agreed with: "If you're still in high school, I do not want to hear you." Then an older Marine screams at the radicals, "You're all punks -- and I'd die right here for every one of you!"

The investigation, led by Geraint Rees, focused on 92 individuals in the UK -- 90 students and two members of Parliament. Specifically, the research shows that people with conservative tendencies have a larger amygdala and a smaller anterior cingulate than other people. The amygdala -- typically thought of as the "primitive brain" -- is responsible for reflexive impulses, like fear. The anterior cingulate is thought to be responsible for courage and optimism. This one-two punch could be responsible for many of the anecdotal claims that conservatives "think differently" from others. Since only adults were included in the investigation, researchers were unable to determine if cerebral physiology drives politics or if political beliefs change the brain. Noam Chomsky: How Climate Change Became a 'Liberal Hoax'
In this sixth video in the series "Peak Oil and a Changing Climate" from The Nation and On The Earth Productions, linguist, philosopher and political activist Noam Chomsky talks about the Chamber of Commerce, the American Petroleum Institute and other business lobbies enthusiastically carrying out campaigns "to try and convince the population that global warming is a liberal hoax." According to Chomsky, this massive public relations campaign has succeeded in leading a good portion of the population into doubting the human causes of global warming. Known for his criticism of the media, Chomsky doesn't hold back in this clip, laying blame on mainstream media outlets such as the New York Times, which will run frontpage articles on what meteorologists think about global warming. "Meteorologists are pretty faces reading scripts telling you whether it's going to rain tomorrow," Chomsky says. "What do they have to say any more than your barber?"
