Better quality version can be found on vimeo: vimeo.com MOAR PIXELS! I've been wanting to upscale the original loading screen video now for some time but I finally got around to do it. I must admit I was really surprised by how quickly and smooth it compared to what I was expecting. While it was still a pain in the arse to do, I had, luckily, only used elements that could easily be scaled up without looking like complete rubbish. Basically, no images or premade graphics, only elements made inside of after effects that would anti-alias properly. Something I also added this time around was a proper alpha channel so I can much more easily composite with other things. Essentially, everything you see that is black is also transparent! I'm quite happy with how it turned out considering the original clip was made in 400x90px (I originally did this only as a web banner flash test, hence the uncommon resolution) and the end result was 1280 by 720 pixels (or HD 720p if you fancy that term better) Maybe I should try bumping it up to 4k film resolution just to prove that I can.. hmm... The load text itself (the technical nonsense essentially) is by Andrew Kramer of videocopilot.net (Go on, read the text! It's quite amusing actually..)
