Boo Hoo - Carmen Lombardo, Cliff Grass and Fred Higman sing Boo Hoo. This song was one of their greatest hits and was one of their greatest hits and was written by Carmen. Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians were one of the most successful big bands of all time. It was very much a family outfit with three brothers in the band. Also, from 1941 til the late 1940's a sister was the lead vocalist. The band was formed in Canada in 1921 and was still going strong 50 years later. The band introduced more than 300 songs many of which became hits. A lot of the songs were written by Carmen Lombardo.

Still Enjoyable at 60 - "Enjoy Yourself" - The most popular version of the song, recorded by Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians, was made on November 27 (some sources give November 28), 1949. Vocals by Kenny Gardner & The Lombardo Trio vocals The recording was released by Decca Records as catalog number 24825. The record first reached the Billboard charts on January 13, 1950 and lasted 19 weeks on the chart, peaking at #10. Contemporary versions have been recorded by Amber, The Specials, The English Beat, The Busters, Todd Snider, and Jodie Holland. However, Guy Lombardo's version is as young and fun as it can be, mostly because of the lyrics. I remember as a young boy seeing Guy Lombardo on TV at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City for New Year's Eve. They would always play this song and it was really appropriate for the festivity. Great dance number too.

"TOO LATE" ,Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians Vocal by Kate Smith Recorded December 8, 1931 Words: Sam Lewis Music: Victor Young Lombardo began his musical career in 1924 in his native London, Ontario; with brothers Liebert, Carmen and Victor, he formed a big dance band. Originally, Guy was a violinist, but he soon became the band's leader and conductor. The Royal Canadians' slogan was "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven" -- and by 1930, the group was America's top dance band. Kate began making records in 1926; among her biggest hits were "Too Late" (1931), "The Woodpecker Song" (1940), "The White Cliffs of Dover" (1941), "Rose O'Day" (1941), "I Don't Want to Walk Without You" (1942), "There Goes That Song Again" (1944), "Seems Like Old Times" (1946), and "Now Is the Hour" (1947). Her theme song was "When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain", the lyrics of which she helped write. Her overweight figure was the occasional butt of derision from fellow performers and managers.

Slayer Hell on Earth Tour Seattle. WaMu/Qwest Cebter. The last show of the tour where so many cool things happened. This was the icing on the cake for me. The night before in Portland Dave held out the double bass part for a little while then did some crazy hand solo on top of it..so Dukes and I were teasing him, challenging him to hold it for like 4 minutes or something ridiculous!!! Dave did this...holding his hand up looking at his watch...great stuff!!! At the end he asks Dukes.."Was that OK?"...Just ...wow!! An awesome ending to an awesome tour!!!
