'Plainclothes police acting as agents provocateurs?' - London Protests November 2011

From: Russia Today A YouTube video shot during the November 9 student rally in London allegedly shows plainclothes police acting as agents provocateurs among the protesting crowds. The video uploaded by the user "noshockdoc" shows two people who first engage in rough handling of one of the rally protesters. Then, reportedly, the same people are shown along with six others detaining someone behind a police cordon. .................................................................................. Video of thousands in London protest march as paint bombs, flares fly

Follow latest updates at twitter.com and www.facebook.com Tens of thousands of protesters crowded central London on Saturday to protest government cuts to public services, streaming in from around the country with banners, balloons and whistles. Organisers of the march estimated that at least 100000 people were joining in the demonstration, what the Trade Union Council called the largest civil society demonstration in years. Police say some protesters have thrown paint bombs and light bulbs filled with ammonia at officers. A group of black-clad demonstrators also threw paint bombs at shops and banks on the main shopping streets of Oxford Street and New Bond Street. The group had broken away from the larger march organized by the TUC to protest against government cuts to public services.

www.euronews.net It was nothing compared to the violence in Rome. But scuffles also broke out in London as protesters camped down for the night outside St Paul's Cathedral. Police tried unsuccessfully to stop them. The London Stock Exchange had been the target of choice for up to 3000 demonstrators marching in the city's financial centre earlier. But, prevented from reaching it, they returned to St Paul's where a police 'containment' operation was put in place and a handful of arrests made.

Chance for Change: London protests to have final say on student fees?

In London, thousands of students are planning to take to the streets in a final attempt to block the raising of tuition fees, ahead of Thursday's parliamentary vote. Trade unionists are also expected to join in. It's the latest in a string of rallies against sweeping austerity measures and budget cuts across Europe. Many European Union countries have been shaken by protests against proposed cuts needed to secure EU-IMF bailouts. Public transport workers marched through crisis-hit Athens, opposing plans to re-structure state-run companies and reduce welfare payments. In Ireland, demonstrators rallied against the state's narrowly passed budget - the toughest in its history. RT talks to Lindsey German, a member of the Coalition of Resistance. Protest in London is peaceful as students march down Bloomsbury Street toward New Oxford Street. Though powerful in numbers, the chorus of disgruntled students was a rather disappointing display of fatigued chanting. It is not clear whether their subdued protest was due to the number of Scotland Yard Firearms officers, on standby to use plastic bullets, or in fact that lunchtime was nearing.

ANONYMOUS UK PROTEST ACTA FEB 11th 2012. BRITISH MUSIC HOUSE 2pm

www.facebook.com Recently, most of the EU, Asia and the US has signed a threatening treaty, ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement). This treaty has not yet been voted, but will soon be passed to the government on June 2012. This treaty will destroy all privacy you have online as you know it. It will allow the ISP servers to spy on what you're doing on your computer, and like SOPA/PIPA, sharing copyrighted files will be illegalised. The intentions may sound good as these huge media companies have been fighting for protecting their copyrights for decades, but what would this mean to our freedom of speech and creativity online? This will be the end of the Internet as we know it. And that isn't the worst bit. The news groups and media worldwide are hiding this from us, and this treaty is being discussed behind our backs. They don't want us, free citizens, to know about it and to rouse debate and chaos. This isn't a joke, this is really happening RIGHT NOW. In fact, the UK has signed the treaty only last week. You may or may not have heard of the mass protests of 30000 people that had been happening in Poland. But this is now our turn to fight back. This is a hosted protest event - for the 11th Feb, Saturday, we will march the streets of London to raise awareness. The best thing about it is that I have collaborated the London protest event with NINE other European countries. This will be the biggest revolutionary event of the year. Join us. We need you. www.facebook.com
