Taken at 10.15pm on August 9th, 2011, in Manchester. Tactical Aid Unit London Riot Police beat alleged teenage rioters on bicycles try to flee city centre, and blockade the street. The sound you can hear in the background is the helicopter overhead, which had been hovering around the area for about 10 minutes, tracking them with its spotlight. The man on the bike gets up on his own, and is ushered to the side of the road by a policeman. Another man with a bike is questioned, and allowed to continue on. After seeming to question those they had caught for a few minutes, the two teams met at the top of the hill and left with the TAU van, heading back towards the city centre. Hours of violence saw around 300 people battle police in north London on Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday. Residents have told Sky News they were in fear for their lives as shops were looted, police cars and a bus set alight and petrol bombs thrown at officers. Scotland Yard said 26 policemen were injured with eight officers - one suffering head injuries - admitted to hospital. They have all since been discharged. London Ambulance Service said paramedics treated 11 other people, 10 of whom were taken to hospital. A total of 48 people have been arrested for offences including violent disorder, burglary and theft. The violence erupted after more than 100 people staged a vigil for Mark Duggan, marching from the local Broadwater Farm area to Tottenham police station. An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation into the incident is under way. In an exclusive interview with Sky News, the older brother of Mr Duggan called for an end to the violence. Police are on the streets of Tottenham, north London, where overnight riots saw petrol bombs thrown at officers and patrol cars and buildings set alight. Eight injured police officers were taken in hospital, at least one of them with head injuries. The unrest began after a protest over the fatal shooting by police of 29-year-old Mark Duggan on Thursday. About 300 people gathered outside the police station on the High Road after demonstrators demanded "justice". London Ambulance Service said a total of 10 people had been treated and nine had been taken to hospital. Two empty patrol cars were set alight at about 20:20 BST. Shops in the area were looted, with people seen pushing away shopping trolleys full of goods. One local resident told the BBC that looting continued beyond daybreak on Sunday. A double-decker bus was set on fire at the junction of High Road and Brook Street while a shop on the High Road was also set alight. Fire crews were initially unable to reach the shop due to the disorder but later began tackling the flames. A BBC TV news crew and satellite truck also came under attack from youths throwing missiles. The youths had begun attacking another police patrol car before the TV crew were targeted and they were withdrawn in the interests of their own safety. The police car was later set alight. This time the individual was a young black male by the name of Mark Duggan. I will remain neutral at this very point and let you all pretty much take a moment to just seriously think about that point and come up to your own conclusions as to what you really think happened there. I have worked in urban locations such as this, and the general message is a feeling of disconnection with the government in general. its not a conservative or labour issue. its just government as a whole. The youths of today are fed up of being lied to. Example of school tuitions promised by Lib deems to not be raised but raised anyway once they got into power.
