Cleaned Up 1941 German Mauser K98
this is my 1941 Gustloff Werke German Mauser K98 i bought from big 5 sporting goods. I just finished re-finishing the wood stock and cleaning the metal parts. all the metal parts were in way better, cleaner shape, than my 1925 mosin nagant and required very little cleaning. the stock however looked like it saw some real action and needed some love. i soaked the stock down with warm water and crud cutter and scrubbed it with a scotch brite pad. I then sanded the stock down to remove any old coatings remaining. I pre-stained the stock with minwax pre-stain, then i stained it with a minwax dark oil based stain, and finished it up with about 5 coats of minwax wipe on poly. i sanded with fine steel wool inbetween coats and on the final coat to give it a shiny but flat, more original, look unlike my super high gloss mosin nagant. time to fire it, next weekend, 2/26/2011

Mauser SR (airsoft) Sniper Rifle Upgrades Possibilites
TAKE 14! I can NOT believe how many takes I took to make this video! IF I did verbal narations, I would take MONTHS! :0 This is the internal upgrades I made on my Mauser SR. Starting with the inner barrel: Using a PROMETHEUS 534 mm - 6.03 mm inner diameter. Made of stainless steel. I POLISHED the inside of the new barrel. PDI Hop-up chamber with TWO allen screws for up-right, and up left adjustments. A BIG pain-in-the-ass to adjust! You have to cock the bolt back, and using a tiny allen wrench, adjust the two screws. But once dialed in, WOW! I will NOT add re-assembly to my video. I am too meticulous about re-assembly, and YouTube video time max is ten minutes. Cylinder, spring and piston up grades: I first used my original cylinder, but replace the stock piston to a KING ARMS reinforced piston for APS-2/Type 96 FIRST FACTORY reinforced piston head FIRST FACTORY stainless steel spring guide Stock cylinder head I also used PDI power adjuster rings Laylax PSS2 120SP spring I replaced it all with K2 cylinder SET. The spring is a real BEAST! However, the field I play on has a limit velocity for sniper rifles of 480 FPS with a 15 FPS buffer, so 495 FPS MAX. I controlled the velocity to 472 - 476 FPS using .20 pellets. The trigger box eventaully disintergrated! CHEAP plastic! I replaced the trigger box with a K2 trigger box assembly. All billet aluminum with steel internals. EXPENSIVE! This trigger box cost more than the price of the gun, a set of two magazines, and the cost of <b>...</b>

Mauser K98 at 300 and 600yds
A 1941 8mm WW2 mauser being used at 300 and 600yds with czech surplus ammunition, given the age of the ammunition and the standard military ammunition is manufactured to the rifle was amazing, it gave consistent accurate fire and achieved very small groups given what it was using. With handloads and a scope the Mauser is capable of very accurate fire and with the 8mm catridge is useful for ranges up to 1000yds and for hunting most game. However the rifle has downsides such as the long bolt pull and the cock on open action making the rifle very slow to reload and awkward in comparison to smoother actions.

Mitchell's Mauser K98k review
This is my review of a Collector Grade Mitchell's Mauser K98k rifle. Pros: -GREAT shooter, very accurate. -Good-looking finish, excellent presentation rifle. -Cleaned up and refurbished from the box, comes ready to shoot (the instructions say to clean it first, but then it's ready to shoot). -Numbers all match on all the parts, even the bolt parts. -I forgot to show it in the video, but it came with a grease container, green pouch with ancient-looking pull through, and crown guard (for the pull through). Cons: -The heavy black bluing with the shiny bolt and the bleached stock is not typical of a standard German K98k rifle. -Parts were thrown together to make a rifle, some parts are not correct for a rifle supposedly made in 1935 (example is the buttplate, it should be thin, not thick). -I don't know the story behind the numbering, I know most Mausers all match except for the bolt, so either Mitchells stamped the bolt to match the barreled receiver, or the Russians did when they captured it. -It's a Russian Capture, cleaned up and sanded down to look clean. From the way they advertise, they make it sound like they discovered some Nazi vault full of perfect-looking K98k rifles. -The Russian Capture mark (an "X" on the receiver) has a line stamped in it, either to disguise the capture mark or done for some other reason. -You can shop around at gun shows and gun shops and build and refurbish your own K98k just like one of these rifles, but Mitchell's offers it in a pre-done <b>...</b>
Yugo 24/47 Mauser
Here she is, my much awaited and anticipated Yugoslavian Mauser from J&G Sales out of Arizona. Can't beat the price. www.jgsales.com is the link for those that have a C&R or are willing to pay transfer fees. The rifle is in excellent shape. I didn't even pay for a "hand select" either. I go through this video in stages of disassembly showing the state of the rifle as I received it. What is seen on this video I saw for the first time on camera. I spent 2.5 hours tending to the cosmolene on this rifle, and getting it all cleaned up. I have some good shots of the bore, which is in just awesome condition! I can't wait to get this rifle to the range. I don't know much about the Yugo Mausers either, so if anyone has any input or information pertaining to date of manufacture, then do share. Portuguese Mauser-Vergueiro m/1904/39 Rifle
A look at the Portuguese Mauser-Vergueiro m/1904/39 rifle in 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser). These rifles were manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in Berlin, Germany prior to WW1. Originally in 6.5x58mm caliber they were reworked to the 7.92 round when the Portuguese adopted the K98 Mauser rifle in 1939. An unusual rifle that combines Mauser and Manlicher design features.

'Broomhandle' Mauser C.96 with stock
Mauser C.96 - 7.63x25 Mauser. This is a Wartime Commercial model - most likely made in 1918 judging by the serial number Preparing, loading and firing ten rounds from the Mauser C.96. The stripper clips are a bit fiddly. I don't really have any decent video editing software to smooth those transitions, my apologies.
