Steve Del Rosso gives longboard surfer and sponsor Ruben Roxburgh the low down on how his boards are shaped. We jumped in for a sqiz so we can pass the info onto you. First the board is designed in Steve's unique surfboard design software. Once Steve (and Ruben) are happy with all elements of the shape it is sent to the pre-shaping machine. The blank is carefully lined up with the machine, before it goes mad for about half an hour. Once the pre-shape is complete Steve takes it to the shaping room to finish it off by hand. Hand shaping a board is a highly sort after skill and is not easy. It only comes with intuition, years of practice and experience in the surf. Steve is one of the best at shaping boards in Australia, jump on his website to find out more and order your next board clearwatersurf.com. Steve purchases all his blanks and shaping equipment from Shapers Australia, the one stop shop for all your surfboard manufacturing needs check out their online store at shapers.com.au.
