The MFA (also known as The Mother Fuckin Allstars) are Alastair Douglas and Rhys Evans, friends, live act and production duo from London. Having met at University, this pair of misfits soon set about bringing together their off the wall ideas, and developing their own unique live show which sees them tag team back and forth, manipulating soundscapes on the fly whilst blurring the lines of such restrictions as genre. Indeed this single 'The Difference It Makes', their debut single is testament to that, as you will discover...

The work comprises nine portraits of Boston-area high school students painted on one large scroll. Liu's intense engagement with the teens he painted makes the work a unique collaboration. Social observation and critique are at the heart of the work of Liu Xiaodong, one of China's premier contemporary artists. His vignettes of modern Chinese life provide moving glimpses of a country in transition to a world power. For more information on this exhibition, please visit www.mfa.org

In May 2008, GALLERY CRAWL checked out the MFA exhibition at CCA, California College of the Arts. Talk about hitting the jackpot! The show was amazing; we could easily have filled several episodes with what we discovered at the school's San Francisco campus. Greedy bastards, we decided to interview as many of the graduates as we could, capturing their auspicious debut into the San Francisco art world -- and beyond. The Otis College MFA Graphic Design Summer 2009 session welcomed guest artist lecturer Pae White July 15, 2009. Pae White is one of the most significant women artists participating in the international dialog about the intersection of art and design today. She embraces a wide range of artistic traditions, from the work of the Bauhaus to Charles and Ray Eames to Isamu Noguchi. Born and raised in Pasadena, White uses a palette inspired by the era of the 1970s, for example the floral scarves of Vera and the anti-war posters of Sister Mary Corita Kent.

PARSONS THE NEW SCHOOL FOR DESIGN | www.newschool.edu MFA Fashion Design and Society at Parsons | newschool.edu/mfa-fds The MFA Fashion Design and Society at Parsons The New School for Design is the first graduate program of its kind in the United States. Both interdisciplinary and international in scope, this academy for advanced studies in fashion design will train a small cadre of world-class designers to have a global understanding of fashion. Innovative and progressive, Fashion Design and Society will offer students the opportunity to make substantive contributions—both professional and conceptual—to the field of fashion design. The program was initiated with the support of Parsons alumna Donna Karan, whose own career reflects a broad view of fashion that has transformed the field. Aiming to bridge the gap between industry and education, the MFA Fashion Design and Society program reframes fashion design education within the context of the global political economy. Students learn to consider design, production, and distribution cycles as well as social, critical, and ecological dimensions of fashion in self-directed projects supported by the fashion industry. Brazilian dancers & the Brazilian Girls. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts opened their new wing this weekend with 'America Remixed' -- a creative dance party featuring a musical performance by Samba Tremeterra and the Grammy-nominated Brazilian Girls. www.microfundo.com Microfundo was there and caught the samba dancers at the unveiling of the MFA's spectacular new wing for the Art of the Americas inside the soaring glass-enclosed Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Family Courtyard. You could smell the new paint and varnish in the galleries. Here's some exclusive video showing Boston's own Samba Tremeterra, led by Brazilian Cultural Center of New England Director, Deraldo Ferreira, warming up the crowd. (videographer's note -- it's totally not ok to shoot video at the MFA but somehow we mangaged to get out the door with this tape). enjoy!
