Manoochehr Sakhaei (منوچهر سخایی) passed away this morning, April 28th, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. At the time of his death Mr. Sakhaei was 76 year old and was suffering from cancer. He is one of the first and most popular pop singers and actors who started his career in Iran prior to the revolution. One of his most popular and memorable songs was 'Kalagh Ha," words by Nozar Parag and melody by Parviz Maghsadi. Our condolences to his family and fans. At Los Penasquitos Academy in Rancho Penasquitos, they've been doing that for 10 years. The academy has 150 students in third grade through fifth grade. It's part of Los Penasquitos Elementary School, but with a difference -- they start school an hour earlier than other schools, and the school year begins eight days earlier. "It's a good place to go to school; you learn more and get more education," says fifth-grader Sina Salemian. Test scores prove that Los Penasquitos Academy is succeeding with its policy, as the school is about 30 percent higher than the state average. Teachers said they make use of the extra time. "It's not just, 'Let's fill the time,'" said teacher Kara Fradsham. "It's real studies. It's real curriculum, and they learn more." The school day used to be two extra hours, and the school year was 13 extra days. However, budget problems meant cutbacks, but a foundation of parents raises money to keep the academy going. "This is the battleground for America. You have to go to the elementary schools," said parent Paul Brooks. Baby OK After Train Hits Stroller in Australia Mom panics, baby survives when train hits stroller that rolled onto tracks in Australia MELBOURNE, Australia October 16, 2009 (AP) A 6-month-old baby has miraculously survived a train hitting his stroller, which rolled onto the tracks when his mother let go for an instant. The escape was captured on security camera footage that shows the red, three-wheeled stroller plunging off a station platform just as the commuter train pulls in, and the mother's panicked lunge to grab it. The train pushed the stroller about 130 feet (40 meters) along the tracks before it stopped, but it did not go under the train. The baby, who was strapped into the stroller, received only a bump on the head. Police said they released the video, which was captured last Thursday at a suburban station in the southern city of Melbourne, to underscore the need for people to be extra safety conscious when using the train system. A 6-year-old boy who was feared to have fallen to his death from a homemade helium balloon has been found safe, but questions are arising about whether the scare was a stunt. The giant home-made balloon floated away from the familys yard Thursday morning. The boy's older brother said 6-year-old Falcon Heene had been playing inside the balloon, sparking a frantic rescue operation that involved military helicopters and briefly halted some departures from Denver International Airport.
