This entire film was filmed on the island of Kauai over a 9 day period. The first 3 days were spent hiking the Napali coast, a 11 mile hike along the coast. We did this for 3 days. After this we spent 2 more days exploring the island. I did this with 8 other friends. After the 5 days were up with them, they all flew back to Oahu where everyone was living, and I stayed on the island on my own for 4 more days. I had a rental truck, that's how I got around. I didn't want to spend money on hotels though, so I slept in the truck, in a Walmart parking lot for the other 4 nights. A lot of cars get broken in on the island of Kauai, according to rumors, so that's why I would camp in the parking lots, so I was a lot more exposed if someone tried to break in where I was sleeping That way i wouldn't get robbed, raped, or murdered, ha. At night when I got done filming, I would go into the only Walmart on the island, where they also have a McDonald's, and I would bum off there wi-fi with my ipod touch, and plot my path for the next day, then I would head out before the break of dawn every morning, and I would get back after sunset to do it all over again. He runs an awesome boat tour where we went out everyday swimming with the shark, stingray, and everything else the ocean has to offer. Tactical Solutions Ruger Mk II .22: "Suppressed Fun" by Nutnfancy
This is a superb modification to a great design, the Ruger Mk II/III .22 pistol. Tactical Solutions makes superb quality aftermarket receiver barrels for both Ruger and Browning .22 pistols. The Ruger receiver barrels are called the "Pac Lite" line. They also make barrels for Ruger 10/22s. Fitting a TS barrel to your Ruger pistol will transform it into a lightweight, superbly accurate, and funner gun. Barrels come in a wide range of colorations but my favorites are OD, Brown, and Matte Grey. For just a cool non-tactical look, Bright Blue is hard to beat. I recommend getting the fluted versions on all their barrels and paying the extra cost for the fitment Picatinny rails to the tops and bottoms for optical/light accessories. The Tactical Innovations suppressor is lightweight and well-made but as of yet I don't know how it stacks up against AAC or Gemtech offerings. But together they form an impressive and lightweight (and silent!) tactical .22 package. We spent 10 days on Vancouver. Most of that time was spent in one of my favorite places, Barkley Sound. It's an area with 150 islands in a 5 mile radius. We canoed from one island to the next, camping on them. On a technical side, it was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. Most of the shots were done with the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series. A Nikon 50mm 1.8 adapter, and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 with Canon/Nikon lens adapter. The smooth shots were done with a glidecam 2000. It's about a 25 mile hike from start to finish. To get all the shots I did, we hiked in about 50 pound packs each, with my tripod, camera lenses, and glidecam. To even camp on the trail you have to have a permit, and the waiting list is HUGE. It took my dad 4 years to finally win the lottery that allowed us to do the hike. On a technical side, this was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. Most of the shots were done with the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series. and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 with Canon/Nikon lens adapter. HDR Video Demonstration Using Two Canon 5D mark II's
This video highlights several clips we've made using our new High Dynamic Range (HDR) process. Video is captured on two Canon 5D mark II DSLRs, each capturing the exact same subject via a beam splitter. The cameras are configured so that they record different exposure values, eg, one camera is overexposed, the other underexposed. After the footage has been recorded, we use a variety of HDR processing tools to combine the video from the two cameras, yielding the clips you see above. HDR Video provides filmmakers with many exciting new opportunities. Not only can HDR video create interesting effects, it can also allow for even exposure where artificial lighting is unavailable or impractical. For example, when a subject is backlit, one camera could be set to properly expose the subject, the other the sky, resulting in video with perfect exposure throughout. Ruger Mk II - High Speed Study - Real Slow Motion
An interesting video showing the very fast and short stroke of the Ruger Mk II .22 pistol. Filmed at 600 Frames/Second - The "F1" was set for "macro" focus and the closest footage was filmed less than 6" away from the gun. Care had to be taken to avoid damage to the camera with the spent shells. - You may have noticed the difference in white balance. I usually set my White Balance to either "Overcast" or "Shade" on bright days. One would think setting the camera to "Shade" would cause overexposure on bright days, but it has an opposite effect, giving a slightly darker and less-overexposed looking image.
