Metallica-Master of Puppets Interlude & Solo (Guitar Cover)
I'm playing along to the middle section of "Metallica - Master of Puppets", including the solos. At the time I recorded this video, I didn't have the tremolo bar for the Floyd Rose system, so I used pinch harmonics and bends for the squealie part of the solo. (I have since acquired a new tremolo bar.) I have received many comments about the first part of the interlude being played "too high". People making such comments don't realize that this part is a dual guitar harmony. James and Kirk each play a separate melody (one high and one low) to produce a very nice harmony. On the studio album, the high part of the harmony is much lower in the mix, hence the reason it sounds a bit strange when I play it in this video. However, if you listen to any live version of the song you will clearly hear this. If you still don't believe me, I have cut out a small audio clip of their performance with the SF orchestra and isolated Kirk's harmony part. Francais Pour Une Nuit 10/19/2009 On July 7th of this year we were honored to perform at Arenes de Nimes, the historic Roman amphitheatre in Nimes, France, easily one of the most spectacular venues in the world. We thought it would be a memorable night, so we asked our friends in France to bring along a film crew to document the festivities. Well, I said I wouldn't be doing any more any time soon, but I couldn't resist. I started this a long time ago and gave up, only to recently discover that it could work out. So I put a little more effort into it and I was able to finish it pretty quickly. I didn't even want to TRY to replicate the laughing sounds at the end, it would have ended up a horrific mess. The video was made to heal boredom. RIP Cliff Burton. Clifford Lee Burton (February 10, 1962 September 27, 1986) was a bass guitarist best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Metallica from 1982 until 1986. As a bassist he was known for his unique style, which made heavy use of distortion and effects (several of which are usually associated with non-bass guitars), best exemplified on his signature piece, "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth". Burton's early influence was essential in creating the unique musical style for which Metallica became famous. Burton joined the band in 1982 and performed on their debut album, Kill 'Em All, which was composed of songs that had been written prior to his arrival. Burton's influence was heavier on the follow-up, Ride the Lightning, which showcased the band's evolving compositional technique. Burton's final album with Metallica, Master of Puppets, was a major commercial and critical success. Burton died in 1986 when the band's tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.
