Es läuten die 4 Glocken der Ref. Kirche in Wangen an der Aare. 4 Glocken f' a' c'' f'' Dur-Akkord Ein sehr klangvolles und erfrischendes Geläute mit einem luftigen und fröhlichen Charakter. Die hiesigen Glocken haben einen gewissen Charme, den sehr schönen Charakter den die meisten Rüetschi-Glocken vor 1930 besitzen. Die grosse f' ist ein Umguss einer offensichtlich gesprungenen Vorgängerin. Dies beweist das Holzjoch, die übernommen Zier sowie der ausgefüllte Einschnitt eines einstigen Stelzenlagers. Glocke 1: H.Rüetschi AG, Aarau, 1920 Glocke 2: Jakob Rüetschi, Aarau, 1843 Glocke 3: Jakob Rüetschi, Aarau, 1843 Glocke 4: Jakob Rüetschi, Aarau, 1843 Bei 14:40 ist die Inschrift der grossen Glocke zu lesen. Ein sehr schöner Spruch, der einen durchaus zum Nachdenken bewegen kann. Die Tonaufnahme ist leider nicht so gut...Allerdings besitze ich noch eine sehr gelungene Aussenaufnahme. Kirche: (aus der Webseite der Gemeinde) Die spätromanische reformierte Kirche aus dem 13. Jahrhundert steht ausserhalb des Städtchens in der Nähe des Aare Ufers. In den Jahren 1980 bis 1982 wurde die Kirche umfassend renoviert. Sie bietet nicht nur Raum für Gottesdienste. Auch für Konzerte, besondere Anlässe und Versammlungen wird sie rege und gerne benützt. Orgel: Die Orgel wurde 1982 von der Orgelbaufirma Mathis erbaut. Sie verfügt über 25 Register, verteilt auf zwei Manuale und Pedal. Ddie Registertraktur ist mechanisch, die Traktur ebenfalls. (Los Angeles, Calif...May 6, 2008) The 7th Annual Nuts for Mutts Dog Show and Pet Fair returns to Shepard Stadium at Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills on Sunday, June 1, featuring something for every member of the family. Highlights include a howl-larious mixed breed dog show, a pet fair, pet adoptions, vendors selling everything from healthy dog treats to fashionable pet carriers, great food, live music, a silent auction, a kid's corner and more, all benefiting nonprofit animal rescue organization, New Leash on Life. Since its inception in 2001, Nuts for Mutts has grown by leaps and bounds to an annual attendance of 10000 dog lovers. This year, over 400 canines are expected to strut their stuff before a panel of celebrity judges in such categories as "Fastest Mutt,' "Most Ear-resistible Ears" and "Best Kisser" leading up to the prestigious "Best in Show." For the first time, four pure bred categories have been added so that rescued pedigrees can compete with their mixed breed buddies. THE VOICE. First record I heard from Lou was Unsatisfied - if I had to pick a top 10, and I could not, but if I had to that would be in it - this is just a sublime slowie from a great singer.Lou Johnson had a couple of hits in America in '63 and '64 with 'Reach Out For Me' and 'Always Something There To Remind Me' but he did not seem to have what it takes to maintain a sufficient level of commercial success or to keep on making records. He could not establish a strong enough identity on which to form a large fan base in the way some of his contemporaries like James Brown, the Isley brothers or Al Green did. But he did keep on touring regularly in America. Lou Johnson was born in Brooklyn where he grew up during the late forties and fifties. Like many contemporaries he started singing in choirs and gospel groups at local Pentecostal churches in his early teens. Unlike many others he studied at Brooklyn University in the late 50s where he majored in Music Studies. In the process Johnson became an accomplished musician on keyboards and percussion. He sang lead with the Zionettes who were signed to Simpson Records and cut a few gospel tunes there. 'Talkin' About the Man' created a lot of local interest and Lou went secular with the Coanjos and 'Dance The Boomerang'. The Boomerang didn't click and two thirds of the trio Tresia Cleveland and Ann Gissendnner left to form the Soul Sisters, so Johnson began to perform solo.
