Fresh twist in Syokimau hearing
www.ntv.co.ke Mavoko Municipality officials have today added a twist to the Syokimau demolition saga being investigated by a joint parliamentary committee panel. The Council officials denied that they were responsible for the issuance of land titles of the disputed land and instead referred the claims to the Machakos Lands Office. The Mavoko Municipality says it was not aware of the ownership dispute of the land in question between the affected occupants and the Kenya Airports Authority. The hearings continue.

Syokimau families vow to sue council
www.ntv.co.ke The owners of houses that were demolished over the weekend in Syokimau are now planning to sue the local council. The families say the Mavoko Municipal Council gave them clearance to develop the land after certifying that all plots for sale were indeed genuine genuine. And as Rita Tinina reports, even the families whose houses are still standing, are not sitting easy.

Deaths in Mlolongo After Diversion of a River
Now, picture this... The course of a river is allegedly diverted by an unscrupulous investor to pave way for land for property development, where he proceeds to put up blocks of houses both for sale and rental purposes. When heavy rains pour, the natural flow of the water is blocked and the river bursts its banks, flooding roads and destroying homes. This, we are told, is the story of Mavoko. A region where 3 people died after a bus veered off a flooded road and plunged into a ditch after the driver failed to spot a bridge following heavy downpour, and, as a result, families are sleeping in the cold after their homes were washed away. Are the current rains the beginning of disaster in Mavoko? Evelyn Wambui tells us more.

Syokimau demolition victims seek to erect temporary structures
www.ntv.co.ke Families whose houses were demolished in Syokimau now want the government to allow them to put up temporary structures on what were once their homes. The families say they want to be allowed to hold on to their pieces of land until a case on the land ownership row between them and the Kenya Airports Authority is heard and determined. They spoke as the parliamentary committee on lands visited the scene of the demolitions in Syokimau. The committee, which is chaired by Gachoga MP Mutava Musyimi, also toured the Kyang'ombe and Mitumba slums.

Mitumba residents accuse KAA of favoring the rich
www.ntv.co.ke The parliamentary joint committee probing recent demolitions in the country visited the Mitumba slums on Monday, where residents have refused to move out even after their houses came down.
